It sounds really deep and loud under 3000rpm but anything above that is incredibly raspy. Make sure you buy a good pair of mufflers though.
So mufflers should sort out the raspyness ?

I wouldnt suggest cutting the Mid-Muffler out as this will result in it being raspy over 3000rpm (but sounds awesome below that).
Im putting the stock mid-muffler back in tomorrow (as suggested by my local exhaust place, he said he had nightmares it sounded so bad over 3000rpm lol) so i'll let you know if it resolves the bad sound over 3000rpm or not.
I wonder if an x-pipe or a h-pipe would make it sound better.
He said that I could use a X pipe, but the mid muffler pretty much does that anyway, I'll see how it goes with just the mid muffler and post a sound clip.
I will be very keen to hear what your results will be![]()
I was thinking about cutting the hotdogs and resonators and run straight pipes and use a X pipe to replace the mid muffler. I already have hsv rears on atm but I do get drone when I am cruising but accelerating at 2500-2800rpm I get a nice note from behind.. But my question is I hear 2.5inch pipe would be too much drone for the sv6 sidi and told to retain the stock system but cut the restrictions on it. Will this type of setup be more than enough?
Cheers.
does anyone know if these mufflers are the same as the 'opg' ones sold on ebay?
Holden VE Commodore Twin Exhaust Mufflers SV6 SS SSV Sedan Wagon HSV Calais | eBay
Why u selling them may I ask?
Really keen to hear this sound clip and set my exhaust up haha am waiiiittiiinnnggg
ok, so i'm needing some advice from you guys... I just got a new exhaust fitted to my 2010 SIDI Ve commodore. The guys at the shop replaced the tips with the quad tips and also installed 'J' pipes. The exhaust has been on since December and it appears the car is burning oil with the new exhaust. I have tried to speak to the local holden dealer and all they can say is i have to put the old exhaust back on and that will fixed the problem... however, I'm having a feeling the car might have to be tuned so the system can be adjusted to suit the new exhaust. What do you guys think?
Is it actually burning oil or is the back of the car getting covered in black sooty crap?
it is burning oil on long trips and is def leaving black sooty crap around the tips daily
Can't see the exhaust as being the cause of the oil issue. The sooty crap would be from the exhaust because you probably punch it more to get the note out of it.
Put the standard exhaust back on and do an oil consumption test to see if it changes.
The car doesn't need to be tuned to suit the different exhaust, the PCM will compensate for the changes.
ok, well the holden dealers are blaming the exhaust
Only because they don't like the idea of their own product being faulty. If you had a "Baby on Board" sign, they would blame that.
haha appears so... I'm having troubles with my gearbox too (see my other thread) and they are saying the computer says its fine
What exhaust did you get and does it sound great I just want one that isn't over the top haha but I don't know much and don't want to be ripped off![]()
why make them loud at all i have a ve sv6 with 212rwkw, a tripple plate heavy duty cluch and 345 diff gears and it eats my mates xr6 turbo, and his sounds off its head and mine sounds stock.
thats half the fun, making them think its got nothing.
Doubt it..it eats my mates xr6 turbo
You mean a sleeper?
I'd like to see your mods if indeed you are telling the truth rather than trolling. I don't want to see a list of mods you dream about, i want pics of the engine bay etc. I find it hard to believe that an sv6 making 212rwkw sounds stock. Firstly I think no ve sv6 makes over 200rwkw YET without forced induction (Maces cams might change this soon) so lets assume you do have forced induction. This would alter the sound greatly from stock. Alternatively lets say you SOME HOW reached the above power figure without FI, this would still involve something other than a simple bolt on which... again would likely alter the note. Lastly, your mates xr6 turbo must be rubbish or he has just taped his own "turbo" badge on if it indeed can't beat a 212rwkw vehicle as heavy as the VE.
Long story short, go back to your pizza box troll.... your point is moot.
Alright, so whoever wants a good sound out of their v6 get a 2.5" catback. Got mine done this morning and was so happy the rasp was gone while still having a deep note.
