Ok this is just me having abit of a sook.
But i went into holden today to buy some door trim clips as i snapped two popping off the trim. They were $6 each, which in itself is abit rich..
However the real surprise came when i asked about some genuine holden accessories, first one being a little cargo organiser for the boot, $235 or $250 (cant remember what he said) which is abit steep, however what else do you expect. but then i asked about a chilled esky for the boot, nothing to fancy about it, just an esky with a holden logo that plugs into the 12v socket in the boot.....
lets just say the guy working was as shocked as me when he looked up the price. $900 and something dollers!!
surely you can get them cheaper somewhere? do holden workers get good prices on accessories too?
I mean i know i could go get a great waeco refrigerated esky for ALOT cheaper then that, but i would like to keep all things genuine..

Not sure if they have what you need but I always price stuff through rockauto. Isn't the Pontiac g8 a ve? Including shipping theyre pretty well priced
Mate, Holden make cars not fridges. Buy a fridge from a fridge company and don't be STUPID !!
They only sell that stuff because some people will buy anything with a holden badge on it.
Have you priced Waeco and Engel fridges? They are over a grand for a decent one. I got a 40lt 3 way fridge from Kmart for $300, gas, 12V and 240volt.
Cheap, fast, reliable.....you only get to choose two.
Alright may not have been clear, the fridge I'm not keen on, I saw it listed and thought hey I'll get a price on that while I was talking with him, and if it was 200 or something then I'd buy it. Obviously if I was serious about getting a car fridge I'd buy a proper car fridge! It just gob smacked me that they can ask that much for a car fridge from exactly what someone said, a car maker!
So don't everyone get hung up on the fridge, was just proving the ridiculous prices. But then the prices on their wheels and tyres are decent, if not cheaper then elsewhere... Baffles me
Ford are no better, they wanted $500 to replace a elec window regulator (including the part), ummmm, no lol.

Spare parts from all dealerships are expensive.
My 2nd car (a Subaru) has pathetically expensive spare parts pricing.
But here's the plain fact.... the reason things are so expensive is because there are plenty of people who pay those prices.
If no one bought them, they'd drop the prices. But because they do, it's a simple supply/demand thing.
I myself NEVER buy from the dealer. Get the part shipped from the US or Asia thanks to Ebay, and skip the 'stealership' altogether.
And big props to the above comment from Greenacc regarding fridges... "Holden make cars not fridges, stick with a fridge company". Couldnt have said it better.
Holden are a bunch of unorganized muppets when it comes to their parts department.... I Needed head bolts for my 304 and the goose told me they only stock the short ones and not the long ones??? So only half the bolts needed for the heads....WTF!
And I was after a blank LS1 block and he informed me they don't stock them anymore because the LS1 is too old?
Yer i understand holdens expensive but man i feel like carrying a gun when i go into VW.
Geeez $47- for just the rear wiper blade on the Golf.
4xtailshaft nuts (not bolts) $32. Nearly fell over when I heard the price but I needed them in a hurry so I paid it
The prices that Holden charge for spare parts may as well be highway robbery. I recently upgraded the front speakers in the Astra. While doing the passenger's side I broke some of the clips that hold the tweeter enclosure onto the door. Went down to my local stealership thinking that a) they'd have them in stock, and that b) they'd come in a packet of 3 or 6 or whatever. The result? Not only did they have to order them in, but they cost $2.75 EACH. Little plastic clips, that cost maybe 10 cents, IF that to manufacture! Still, I needed 'em, so its not like I had a choice.

You should always call around as I've found some GMH parts can actually be cheaper I had a VH brake booster back in the day that I was quoted $110 reconditioned and GMH had it for $90 brand new (just one example), but my point is as long as its a reasonable quality and price replacement then don't get hung up on which place you buy it from.

Yes I know, if you get anymore manly you are in danger of making yourself pregnant!
Holden parts are no dearer than the prices charged for similar parts by other manufacturers. Australian built cars are still generally much cheaper to buy parts for than imports, especially Euro's. I'm fortunate enough to be able to get my parts at trade price from my local dealer and the spare parts guy is the best I have ever dealt with. Nothing is ever too much trouble, because he appreciates dealing with someone who knows exactly what they want.
same deal with me mate, i snapped two of the door trim clips, went in to the local to grab some extras thinking ye they'll be a pack of 4 or something, nop, each individual, and a neat little $6 each!and they had to get them in aswell, non in stock (you'd think for a VE II they would have those sorts of parts in there 100's)
