Well my car is due for it's 120,000 km service and i tried searching, couldn't find anything relating to my scenario, I know I'm due for plugs and all aswell so will be changing them, but wanting to know what oil I should use in my alloytec that's due for it's 120,000 km service
A mate uses magnetech but iv been told this can upset the oil pressure switch,
Any quick advice would be much appreciated, cheers
Specified grade is 5w/30, now another question is having done over 100,000 should you thicken it up a touch and due to summer coming go a better heat range like 10w/50?? Or castrol edge 5w30?
I have Anglomoil 5w30 running through mine at the moment, will go in at the next fill and the fill after - There's a whole range of issues that can affect what oil you should use - but if your motor is not unusually worn or heavily modified, I see no reason to deviate from the specified grade.
where you located mate? pop it in your profile!
different parts of australia lend themselves to different road conditions, and whilst standard spec oil should be fine there is a sliding scale for adverse conditions.
Melbourne Victoria south east suburbs, so I should be fine with castrol edge 5w 30??
Looking at dropping the oil again after just 3000kmas the engine has become quite noisy, sounds like a diesel engine. Lol
Atm it's got the nulon fully synthetic 10w-40 oil ,it's made it too noisy but it's not a terrible noise.
Iv decided to try out the semi-synthetic PENRITE oil as I heard Nulon tends to make the alloytec abit noisy.
My question is to get rid of this noisy engine sound should I go for 5w-40 or the 10w-30 in the penrite oil.
It's sitting at 140,000km.
Thanks.
