Hi everyone
Looking at moving to next step and get the ute cammed. Not sure which cam to use.
I will be doing Tarmac Rally and need a good punch in low down to mid revs. Not to concerned with top end speed.
Looking at getting HSV 3.7 or possibly 3.9 diff gears
Any suggestions would be appreciated
As well as a installer in perth to do the Job
Regards
Glen
Best to go see eddy @ Active Automotive he'll know exactly the cam you will need
Hey Munz
Yeah i have spoken to Eddie before and he is really helpfull. I just wondering if anyone has a 6.0lt ute or sedan cammed with upgraded diff so i can get a feel for the difference. In WA of course![]()
from what i have heard the 3.7 hsv diff is the way to go as the after market gears can whine , when i fitted my vcm 7 , they told me oh you will have to fit the 3.7 diff as it would make it a nicer car to drive .
but have found the stock ratio 3.45 fine that may change with time tho .
Scott
Yeah i have heard that but i really need the punch out of hard turns so not sure i will have to give a car with 3.7s in it and then see if it has what i need
i think they make 4.11s to fit the ve now , could be another option .
i guess it comes down to much you drive the ute
Scott
I actually drive it to work each day but once a cage goes in in about a year and half it wont be road legal. So i think i will go as far as 3.9 diff gears with a good mid range cam. My mate a work reakons at 228/331 cam but im not sure if that is to big for rally and track work and the last ute he had he blew up on the drag strip lol![]()
I have. VCM-7 cam (check with their website for the specs) with 3.7's in the diff, the take off is certainly more brutal with the gears and the cam kick in at around 3200rpm. If you are heading over to ADL let me know
m500 what econemy are you getting with the vcm 7 with the 3.7 gears , im getting as low as 10.2 , its booked in at willall to get tune tickled

Sweet man thanks if im in the area sometime i will definetely do that :-)
To hell with fuel economy!
My ute has 236/238 cam with other bits and bobs 440rwhp. Fuel economy can eat a fat one! Good & lumpy with 2.5 xst, unreal at the track! Drive them properly & keep up the revs you cant go wrong!
Vessute you are on the right track to greatness. Enjoy!
Also - 3.7 is good for track & mid ranged, cam only engine packages. 3.9 is getting a bit much too many revs, not make motor happy.
Oem hsv diff gears are the way to go. Stay well clear of 4.11s way too high for circut. Leave them for the strip.
Let me know what diff you run, what top speed & where. Interested
