    Default Help, Ve oil leak!

I have a 2006 Ve v. I ought the car 3 months ago and was bone dry underneath. Not a single leak. Put my gauges on and one was oil pressure Which I used thread tape and it sealed well no sign of any leaks, I serviced my car last week. Found oil leaking onto the sump, so I tried to follow it, it's on the passenger side, and weeping alot on the passenger side cross member, and on the bottom of the ac compressor, and on the passenger side of the sump, I thought it was the sump so nipped the bolts a quarter of a turn, but cleaned it all and checked a week later and still there, mmm any ideas or has anyone had something similar?! What are your thoughts any help appreciated!

Oil pressure switch could have let go and started leaking.

I checked the oil pressure switch. Cos I put it in a t-piece. And it's fine, no leaks from any of that,I'm pretty sure the filter housing from the block. Is it just the 2 bolts that hold that on? One closer to the front of the car side that is visible And another below the exhaust manifold on the side closer to the firewall??

Personally, i've never seen a filter housing leak.

The V6's are notorious for timing covers to leak, they tend to leak around the alternator which is on the drivers side. I'd be checking that to see if it's the timing cover leaking down.

When in this post did I say drivers side? It says passenger side under the ac compressor and touching on the sump, If I run my hand under the filter housing I get traces of wet oil. There is no higher place, so that has to be it

You didnt. I was simply relaying information on to you to try to help. But if you dont want it, that's fine.

So lets look at it logically:

    Your car wasnt leaking.
    You messed around with it.
It's leaking from near where you messed around with it.

Personally, i'd be using a liquid sealant for the thread if i could.

As for taking the oil filter housing off, i cant remember if the PS pump needsto be moved to get the lower bolt. Im pretty drunk sorry dude. Just trying to brainstorm.

Na it confusing, I'm confident it not the t piece switch or sender unit for gauge, and is the filter housing against the block. Have you ever seen that ricey? And is it just the two bolts that hold the filter housing on?

5 bolts and a gasket. I can feel 2, it's dry under the alternator. Will go and double check my t piece, but I'm sure it's not that,

The filter housing is fairly long and runs down the side of the engine, theres 1 bolt near the top and 4 down the bottom end.

Ok so I Just had a good look, my t piece is completely dry, and no oil on any of it, that is sealed completely fine, it has to be the filter housing, I could feel a couple of the bolts now ricey, will try nip them up when at work next, can it be done easier under the car?? As there isn't a chance my hand will fit down there. If that doesn't work. I suppose new gasket

Sweet. Is it just the 2 Bolts at the bottom?? N is it worth slapping a new gasket straight in,? Or try tightening it first,?

If you can get it to stop without taking it off then that's your best option
