    Default ve sv6 diff

ok so i have just been informed that my diff is f'd ... great (my fault though i guess) ... so i am looking at putting a better diff into the car ... any suggestions on what brand / ratio to go

just to clarify i have a 6sp manual sv6 ve ... i know there is other threads on this but all i could find was people recomending manual ss diffs for autos ... are the ss diffs stronger than the sv6?
    2010 SIDI sv6 ... 180atw ... more to come

the stock diff in the SIDI's is an LSD 3.27 ratio I think from memory, so just look at replacing it with one of those. I'd honestly just look at replacing it with a second hand diff of the same ratio or like a SS diff 3.45, just make sure it's LSD.

I'm pretty surprised the diff gave way though, surely thats a Holden warranty job??

Think the standard diff is LSD in the ute but is a single spinner in sedan. I've a 3.27 single spinner with only 5000kms on it if you are interested PM me. If you want a better diff I'm running a 3.7 LSD in mine and it is excellent....about $1800 brand new from Holmart.

    To give you some ideas,
I saw an LSD 3.27 on eBay a month or so back that went for around $500 with 70,000Kms on it.
    I just purchased a 2.92 LSD from a Clubby with 80,000Kms for $380.
(Berlina and Calais V8 models dont get LSD as standard, hence the reason why I just bought, and about to fit a LSD version soon).

Here is a rough guide as to what diffs were fitted to what models...
Please dont take it as gospel, Holden had LSD as an option on a lot of these models, and Holden did make many running changes over the life cycle of the VE.

3.6L Alloytec Dual Fuel LPG Engine - 4 Speed Automatic - 3.27 Non LSD Differential
3.0L SIDI Direct Injection Engine - 6 Speed Automatic - 3.27 Non LSD Differential
3.6L SIDI Direct Injection Engine - 6 Speed Automatic - 3.27 (Optional LSD on SV6 Models)
3.6L SIDI Direct Injection Engine - 6 Speed Manual - 3.27 LSD Differential
6.0L V8 L98/L76 Engine - 6 Speed Automatic - 2.92 Differential (LSD Standard on SS, SSV Models, optional on Calais, Calais V)
    6.0L V8 L98/L76 Engine - 6 Speed Manual - 3.45 LSD Differential

HSV Automatic Models - 2.92 LSD Differential
HSV Manual Models - 3.45 LSD Differential

What happened to the 3.7 in the HSV manual???

Destroying a diff in a V6 Commodore? WOW!!! That takes some serious driving (or just small amount of dumb).

Did you have many problems with calibrating the new speed on the 3.7 diff Jarp?

I did initially but both CHE and MACE can recalibrate the speedo now although the MACE fix is more accurate according to my GPS.
