hi im looking into buying a VE i found a real cheap one and i am considering maybe converting it to a manual now i understand its a costly thing to do but i wanna know who should i consider going through and how much its roughly gonna cost me.
Come on man, search before posting. This has been stated before that it is much to exspensive to convert from automatic to manual. You are MUCH better off buying a manual to start with.

Probably looking at around a grand to fit it unless you can do most of the work yourself.
Goodluck.

That's an exchange gearbox, so you'd need a manual box to swap in the first place.
I wouldn't expect much change from $6000
this was discussed no more than a week ago by someone asking the EXACT same question.
a) do a search
b) if you're too lazy to search, just the read very first page of posts and you'll find your answer anyway.
not a good start with your first post mate, ignoring forum rules and annoying those that want to help.
hell of a lot more than that dude.... thats just the gearbox itself (and only an exchange at that- not supply of one).
youre forgetting everything else, center console, pedal assembly, electronics, and labour, and labour, and labour. $1,000 should cover the physical gearbox swapped over... but thats the easy part.
getting the new box to actually work in the car is going to cost a fortune, and will require a lot of labour and skill. cutting of the floor pan, firewall, manufacture of new brackets hold the gearbox assembly.... i think all up it would cost closer to $10k... definitely more than $7k.
Might be different for the VE but recently a guy I know did this in his VZ exec and managed to source the whole gearbox, clutch etc for $2k then spent another $1k getting it all to work, it's not engineered though. If you know what you're doing it wouldn't be that expensive. I have doubts it'd would cost anywhere near 10k unless you were sourcing it all new.
As I said, one sold for about $800 everything included last night
Ignoring the link I posted above, here's everything you need as far as the gearbox goes.

$3000 extra would get you a manual SV6 though!!!

Yes I know, if you get anymore manly you are in danger of making yourself pregnant!
Considering he sold his auto for abit over a grand it wasn't that bad a deal. About 2k. If you can do it cheaply, go for it I say!

Kuzman I read you posts all the time and tend to agree with the majority of things you say.
But in this scenario I think your way off the mark mate. You could not do things cheaply the rta would ensure that with engineering and the rest. And as you said before you mate has not done the engineering yet but what happens if he wishes to sell the car
That's true, I'm not sure if he's thought about that. But in saying that, the amount of mods he's done to his car that aren't engineered, he'd have trouble selling it even with an engineered gearbox. I'm not saying it's easy to do, but if it can be done cheaply go for it was all I was getting at.

Mate I don't know if you remember the first time on a forum, sometimes it takes a while for people to work out where to search etc...so they ask the question to which they seek the answer, albeit sometimes naive questions, but there are no stupid questions, just stupid answers like yours......give the guy a break, it is his first post.....like you stated......not everyone is a computer savvy genius, its a commodore forum after all not a NASA forum.
I've just a 6 speed manual gearbox with full conversion kit for $2,450. And it's gonna cost me about $1,000 to put it in.
I'm interested in hearing if anybody has gone the other way and converted to auto
