Hi guys I have come into acquisition of a set of unknown steel rims. The guy I got them from had them fitted to a VT Commodore and they nearly fell off because the center holes were too small and they wobbled some of the wheel nuts off.
I'm thinking they're VE wheels (as I know VE wheels need to be machined to fit on a VT) and the VE steel wheels were also 16's. All 4 have pretty much brand new directional tyres on them.
On the steel rim is stamped 7JISOX16 43P AUSTEK
Once again, that reminds me of the way the older steel wheels are labelled.
Is anyone able to confirm for me 100% that these are VE steel wheels because I don't want to advertise them as the wrong thing and have someone else nearly die from fitting them to a VT
Cheers
Mick

far out mate, those rims could have come from anywhere.... if the dumbarse that had them "installed" on his VT nearly had them falling off, what's to say they havent come from a ford, or a nissan, or anywhere else.
measure them properly and sell accordingly.
pcd (stud pattern), and offset is a good start. google both terms and you'll get instructions on how to take those measurements properly.
there are other measurements you'll need to get as well (the size of the spigor ring is also important)... but once you take these measurements you'll know for sure what rims you have.
as an added bonus, once you have these measurements you can advertise them with the rims... or even look up different cars that use these measurements, widening your target market from just commodore owners.
but dont just assume this idiot had VE rims mate... they could have come from anywhere.
I was just hoping someone with steel wheels on their VE could check the stamped code on their wheels to confirm it's the same for me.

the number 43, looks like that is the offset.... that and it looks like a 16" rim
if they are original wheels post a photo, should be recognisable.
just had a look at my spare (the other wheels are supersports).
code on the 16" black rim in there was: 7JISO16 43P AUSTEM
pretty close to yours... but not the same. i'd still be measuring, last thing you want to do is advertise that it definitely fits a VE- only for the buyer to pissed if it doesnt.
i think thats a fair assumption... 43 offset, 16" rim, 7" wide?
the X in his code might mean something different though, like maybe weight capacity or something.
just out of interest, the above code I've provided is from a sportwagon.
anyone else care to check out their spare to see their code?
From memory to fit VE wheels on any other holdens the centres have to be bored out therefor VE wheels would have a smaller centre than VT so they may be VE wheels that have had the centres bored out too much, sounds like a backyard job to me!
It sounded more like they hadn't been bored out at all, and that's why they didn't fit properly.
Yeah they weren't bored out at all they were over the hubs on the top but not on the bottom so the guy's wheels were wobbling which slowly wobbled his wheel nuts off. The X is smaller than the rest of the numbers. 7JISO 16 43P AUSTEM is all probably 25% bigger than the X and it is AUSTEM not AUSTEK as I had posted before. Max load rating is stamped on there as 730KG as well

yep, mines 730kg as well.... chances are they are VE mate. but what's the X mean i wonder?
Edited: oh snap.... just worked it out!! you telling me that the X is a different size means I reckon it's X as in 7" multiplied by 16"
16x7 rims.
