    Default Sv6 help

Hi guys first post here just got quick question see if any one can help out....(please note this is the first holden i have ever owned so very green on the ins and outs of its workings- please be patient as i am most likely to ask stupid questions)

Had minor fender bender - small rav 4 hit my car with its front bumper at my right hand side indicator and has caved panel in, seen mech about damage have been advised that there is no structural damage,(which was main concern as i was not insured) , curious tho cause it also tapped my wheel- did mention this to mech which told me to take it to tyre place . Tyre place assured there was no damage to tyre and rim at all. Tyre has been changed to spare just in case (at my request). Must mention that two of wheel nuts were a little loose for comfort.

Issue is there is a small vibration at low speeds comming through steering wheel, and when at higher speeds above 60 km that is gets to the point where you can actually hear the vibration but only inside the car(it sounds like air catching in the panel) . There is also a rub mark (shiny looking) on the suspension, the steering feels as it always has, going over speed bumps etc does not create any more bounce or movement in vehicle then before, nor does braking feel any different, there is no fluid/s leaking from anywhere that can be seen. There is a small gauge on rim of tyre that was changed. The rotor has one clear indent in it the full length round(like when a rock gets stuck in between brake pad. Please see pic for more of idea what I am talking about. Thank you in advance. sv6 pictures by tanya1984 - Photobucket

I don't know about the vibration/noise issue, (a wheel alignment is probably not a bad idea?) but I'll offer one piece of advice you should probably take before doing anything else.

Get yourself insured, real soon. If you can't afford insurance, you can't afford a car.

Re: fixing this damage, if the other party hit you shouldn't you be going after their insurance / them personally to fix this damage? The pics make the damage look more than slight, to me anyway...

Bit of an over-reaction. LachieSV6 didnt say anything insulting or unreasonable and if anything he was being sympathetic.
He basically said hopefully the person you hit wasn't someone like me. Because If an uninsured driver hit my car I would get my insurance company straight away and not care less about the financial situation of the other driver

Take your car to specialised suspension place to check it out...
Or just tyre place and check wheel balance and/or wheel alignment

Driving uninsured car is just not on as you know, and I'm sure you learnt your lesson with this one

Consider yourself lucky, I made the same mistake and it cost me 9K (that didn't even fix my own car) and being just 18 years old and earning about 300 bucks a week, it really hurt my pockets.

Anyway, as mentioned... go to a suspension shop and at least get an alignment done. If the problem persists you have obviously done more damage.

didnt mean to offend any one , am rather stressed out as i ment to be moving to brisbane area and car is obviously not in a state to be driven any length of kms based on damage. LachieSV6 my full apologies if i did take your comment the wrong way - have had many ppl tell me i am a silly women for not having insurance- hence the quick to bite reaction. I have also had this car broken into last week and it recieved some damage hence a lil bit defensive.

So update on vehicle damage: have taken back to mech whom has told me that i have possibly done damage to the rotor or strut. He said i have a right hand tie rod end that needs replacing bad and possible wheel bearing damage. Got wheel alignment done and seems to have fixed the rubbing vibration that was happening. Its booked in to get fixed tommorrow. Mech is going to check bearings again for me just to be on safe side.
Update on others mans car : i had mans details in my car when it got broken into - so still no way of contacting him in regards to getting this fixed.

The tyre looks awfully close to the strut, something is bent as it sure doesn't look right. I'd say you might be up for around the 2K to $2.5K mark to get it all fixed up, that doesn't include the other party to which probably will have their insurer chasing you soon. A bit of bad luck hey. You know the deal though, not having insurance is just plain stupid but i think you have learnt your lesson.
