I have a VE SV6 09 Silver colour, I applied mother's california gold wax and now the F$%^ING CRAB wont come off?
Hey mate.
If you done it in the heat then that COULD be your problem. If so you will need to apply it again IN COOL AREA and rub it nice and firmly.
I have no idea bout it, i could be wrong. You must as TinSnips! as he is the guru at cleaning.
Sorry mate, goodluck buddy.
edit: Or ask scottsv6

Just use a damp microfibre cloth, no reason why it shouldnt come off even if you did it in the sun, it just cured too quick.
PS. I've never used California Gold but being a silver car you shouldnt really see the wax haze over anyway.
Apply it with a foam applicator pad one panel at a time (thin even coats), you dont need to wait for it to fully haze, then just wipe it off with a microfibre towel.
Dont worry though you havent ruined the paint, its just set ontop.![]()
I was doing it under the carport and i made sure the paint surface was cold. i applied it with a damp microfibre cloth, had a bucket of water with me and it just turned into this white powdery stuff and now it wont come off. i tried rubbing the living hell out of it - not hard, but firm and real quick. tried mild warm water to heat it up a little and nothing? im freaking it out cos its getting no where
The damp cloth would have been what caused it, wax repels water and you were applying it with a damp cloth (adding moisture to the wax so it hasnt naturally cured and now the residue has hardened).
Do you have any other products there, polishes, wax and grease remover, prepsol?
Why on earth would you apply a wax with a damp microfibre? Did you read the directions on the bottle?
Maybe because he's new to polishing/waxing. I wouldn't have a clue, unless instructions were clear about what to do (or not to do).
That's what the instructions on the bottle are for. Get some wax & grease remover such as Prepsol to remove wax and start again.
I had a friend bring over new wax, we applied that over the top and it got all that crap off. I read the instructions on the back of the container a few times. said to use a damp terry cloth/microfibre cloth and to let it dry till it formed a white powdered haze - which is exactly what I did and it just wouldnt come off regardless of what I did. I dont think ill ever use mothers brand wax again.
Thats good at least its all done now what brand did your mate bring
something in a large metal container.it has no proper labels on it. He bought it from a honda dealer when he bought his car (a honda). Its a creamy coloured liquid. Its the best thing Ive ever seen my car is so shiny. Ill try figure out where to get more of it
So if anyone comes across this problem dont freak out like I did.
1. Dont use mothers california gold unless you're a pro at waxing.
2. If you do get the same problem try to keep rubbing out the mess gently.
3. Failing that, easiest thing to do is to have a different brand of wax (preferably liquid based - DO NOT USE CUT AND POLISH!!!!!!) and place that over the top.
4. If that fails then Im sorry but I have no idea. Seek help.
My car is silver as well and hard to find something that makes it look wet i put swissvax on mine through a detailer a came up nice but good not know different types of waxes to compare the shine level
I'm too lazy to polish so i just use meguiars car detailer every month or so, comes up a treat.
You could clay the car to remove old wax.
Meguiars Quick Clay or Auto Glym Clay are at Autobarn
2011 SV6 Sportwagon, Phantom
Repco and Super Cheep have mothers clay as well... It could be the Kryptonite that Gokz needed.
Personally, I'd go over it with Meguiar's Scratch X (as that's what I have in the shed and have used it before) then re-wax it with Meguiar's, AFTER READING THE DIRECTIONS! Does it show that I like Meguiar's products?
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
As ScottSV6 mentioned, some waxes/polishes will do this mixed with water. Try Meguires Quick detailer spray. This should soften it up and wipe it several times with microfibre cloth. Its a good idea to prep the paint prior to applying wax. At enthusiast level (and if you have the time) clay bar first, then apply paint cleaner polish then seal with the wax.
If that doesnt work use Meguires Ultimate Quik Wax spray. I have used this on stubborn wax residue on the car and its taken it off with ease.
Hope it helps.

In my experience there is real difference in the results you will get if you apply the wax using different types of material; damp terry toweling is best for application (as the instructions indicated) microfiber is best for taking it off. I don't often bother with wax these days... I take the lazy way out and use the Meguiars ultimate quick detailer spray after washing...easy as...love it!
