Default SV6 ute Rear end noise.

Hi guys just wondering if anyone can give me some advice, I have a 2009 SV6 Ute, 93000 kms on the clock and it has developed a noise from both of the rear wheels when driving.

I have jacked it up and checked for any bearing movement and there is no freeplay at all, checked brakes wheels tyres etc and just dont know what is causing it.

    Any help would be great.

Can you describe the noise in more detail ? What speed ? Rattle ? Clunk ? Does it happen all the time ? Is it worse over bumps or worse when ute is loaded up ? Vibrations ? .......

The noise is a droning sound but it is a constant sound. It doesnt go when cornering or swerving etc, but there is also a constant sort of clunk clunk clunk that continues while the droning sound is present. It happens from about 40kmh and after that it is constant untill you slow down under 40kmh.

The ute is unloaded and with the clunk I can sort of feel that through my seat.

I first thought I heard something about a week ago, then it got louder and now I am not using the car until I can get it looked at, or figure out what it might be.

It may be wheel or diff bearings ? The other thing that springs to mind is the drive shaft universals ?

OK it turned out that both rear wheel bearings had gone. And both at the same time which Holden couldnt explain.

As my car had only done under 100000km's the repairs were covered by warranty.
