I have just got myself a 2009 VE Clubby and the accelerator pedal sits annoyingly about an inch or so lower than the brake pedal which makes heal-toeing really difficult unless I twist my foot in an awkward way. Had an SV8 previously and the pedals were alligned flat which was a dream.
So, can the pedal be raised by throttle cable adjustment or is there any adjustment under the pedal that can resolve this?
Appreciate any help for my poor ankle.
Cheers
TB
No cable as they are fly by wire.
Will get back to you on whether they can be adjusted.
Silver Certified.
I don't really have a problem because I normally 'slide' from the brake to the accelerator and they're level when the brake pedal is depressed. It's even easier if I just press the right hand side of the brake pedal. All depends on what you normally wear driving I guess.

Yep I hear you though the clubby brake grab is pretty intsantanious. i.e. little touch of the brake, with minimual travel, and the anchors are seriously digging in. Even with a good mash on the brake pedal the accelerator is still too low. When wearing light weight race shoes I have to really stretch my heel to hit both brake and gas pedals.
I'm not sure mate - I can hit both the brake and gas together with no problems wearing just your average rubber thongs.

Honestly can't say I've had a problem heel/toeing my ute or any other E series manuals I've driven - though I do have large feet, so brake with the ball of my foot and just roll my ankle a little to hit the throttle rather than try and contort my ankle to hit it with the sole of my foot... not so much a heel/toe as a toe/outside-foot-bit
...which isn't at all helpful, as I have no idea if the pedals can be adjusted. I'll shut up now.

I've had several old English sports cars that the accelerator pedal sat too low to heel and toe, so I made up a block of wood and bolted it on to level it off with the brake pedal.
Not too sure if that would be considered legal in this day and age or if your insurance company would approve though.

I'd say not. Bolting on the after-market sports pedals voids your insurance under the being in control of a motor vehicle banner.

I was told recently (from a guy with years of driver education training) that it is a requirement that the accelerator pedal is placed lower than the brake for safety reasons.
(So silly old buggers can tell which pedal is which)..not that it seems to stop them hitting the gas and going through shop widows!
I did a bit of a quick measurement this morning. The accelerator sits roughly 5cm (length of a Commo key pod) below the brake. That's not too much. My advice would be to develop a new driving style.

Mine's probably about that much lower too, but on an auto it makes not a lot of difference, because you get used to it and just lift your foot without thinking to go for the brake pedal.
I do feel though the brake pedal and throttle pedal should be at the same height though..........it just makes sense for auto trans or manual. Should be a must on any manual vehicle.
I do wonder though how many drivers in this day and age really know how to double de clutch and heel and toe???????????
I know some younger drivers that have only ever driven an auto box vehicle and have no idea how to drive a manual vehicle.
If I had my way all new drivers would be taught to drive in manual cars along with high speed driver training before obtaining a licence.
In my car, the accelerator and brake are about level when the pedal is depressed enough for medium braking, so it's quite easy to 'slide' from brake-accelerator under normal driving conditions. I don't think too many people would slide accelerator-brake.
I agree with you, Gossie, everyone should learn to drive a manual. I've never owned a manual and hate driving auto vehicles. If it hasn't got three pedals, it isn't a car!

Could you remove the accel pedal and shaft, heat the shaft and bend it out to the desired height, you may just need a rubber stopper on the floorpan to stop you pushing the pedal further once it's travelled as far as is possible, this will stop you re bending the shaft back again
