I live in Brisbane and have just purchased a 2009 VE SSV ute, its manual and came with already installed 3" Xforce exhaust system (extractors, high flow cats and Varex mufflers) it also has had a Mafless tune with the OTR intake system.
I would like to have a camshaft (and valve springs etc) upgrade and retune to suit done on it. Are there any other places that specialise in this type of work. So far I can only find Power Torque Performance, Bob Romano Performance and Hi-Torque Performance, are there any other places?
I'm not familiar with this model car and don't want to be suckered in to installing unnecessary upgrades but am happy to install worth while ones. There is talk of 3.7 diff gears, underdrive kits, stronger clutch etc which im not too sure about.
I have seen posts with claims of 300 - 350rwkW which is what I am after. I dont want to take the car to a dodgy tuner with a rigged dyno setup. Id rather go to someone knows what they are talking about and can assist me with good accurate advice on cam selection and upgrades and leave me with a reliable car, that also offer good customer support.
Any help would be appreciated, cheers.

James at BPS knows his stuff and he's very competitive in pricing too. I drive 300km+ to go to him, plus there's a fair few pro uters who go to him these days.
Thanks, Ill give them both a call and see what they recommend.
I have to say that my opinion of hitorque has dropped after a mate had his turbocharged auto SS tuned by them and they didn't think to touch the standard auto tune.
I am still a massive fan of Hi-Torque. One and only, you may have heard one story about them but I have heard stories about just about every Performance store in SE QLD.
And if I'm honest, I havent heard terrific things about James and BPS either. But I have also heard some good things. I think the individual needs to talk to the workshops and get a feel for them and then go with the one that makes them feel the most comfortable. This thread will end up pages long of he said she said type comments.
I didn't just hear a story off a friend of a friend, I know it wasn't touched first hand off the guy who owns it - he ended up going to EFI performance and having everything fixed up. I understand that each shop is going to have it's stuff ups and I'm sure James has had his share - I'm not denying that.
Thanks guys,
I spoke to a few of the workshops and ended up booking the car in at power torque. I went for the biggest cam they offer, they said 320rwkw shouldn't be a problem. They only require to change the valve springs and camshaft, I asked them to raise the rev limiter to 7000rpm but they recommended only 6500rpm.
Has anyone else raised the rpm to 7000 with a stock bottom end, any issues? If so ill take there advice an cap it at 6.5, probably not much benefit in having it rev much higher if it isnt making any power (apart from the awesome sound).
The cam grind they are installing will be a 230,236. 50. 612 lift. 112 degrees lobe separation.
These numbers don't mean much to me, but are they comparable with the power figures I am after?
Sounds pretty decent. It'll have a nice idle.
