Hi all,
Got a great one for you all. Driving stop /start traffic and I get a burning rubber smell in the cabin. Popped the bonnet, no smell, likewise none of the brakes / wheels/ tyres. Anyone have a thought on what it could be? Car is a May11 SV6, manual w 14k on the clock
sounds like ya riding the clutch like a grandma :P
If in doubt......FLOOR IT!!!
Clutch wouldn't smell like rubber. I say maybe something stuck on you exhaust?

Yes I know, if you get anymore manly you are in danger of making yourself pregnant!
Whenever I floor it, I get a burning smell when I've had my fun and park the car.
Normal though, the cars still new.
No Replacement for Displacement
Certain it's rubber? Could it be oil on a hot exhaust?
Cheap, fast, reliable.....you only get to choose two.
Do a bournout! And smell your tyres, just to be sure you know what rubber smell is. And atleast you have a good excuse for the pigs![]()
I had a similar problem with my my10 sv6 ute and it was the clutch and first time it's happened to me and found the clutch was partially sticking . Only noticed it in traffic too. It was replaced under warranty btw
It's the clutch. I have the same issue in my pulsar due to having a heavy duty clutch. Need to slip it a bit or bunny hop then you get the burning rubber smell.
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
Dealer thinks 'plastic bag on the exhaust'. I called BS and will check the exhaust tonight when I get home. I'm certain its something clutch / transmission related as it has always had a bit of a hard cltuch after long driving spells (read about it here). I will keep the post live until I get a resolution from Dealer.
My missus has the exact same ute and same problem. Took back to Holden and plastic wrapped around the exhaust.
