Default Ute - Water behind passanger seat

    Hey

I just got home today and thought id give the ute a bath, after i did i started to tidy up the wiring of my amp behind the passanger seat, as i put my hand in the battery area on the flooring and i felt it was damp, i then pulled the carpet and underlay up a little where it starts near the battery and noticed there was a little pool of water and the underlay was damp! WTF! Brand new car and its leaking water into the battery area?

Anyone else experienced water in the cabin? I dont know where its coming from but i havent put any holes in the car so i could only imagine its coming from the front under the windscreen and it ran to the back of the cabin or its coming in from under the back window or something?

Worst thing is i cant get it to holden for over 3 weeks.

Make sure your aerial is tight to the roof. Mine was loose when I got mine and started leaking till I got them to tighten it up properly and haven't had any problems since. Hope you can it sorted soon mate

Its destroyed my floor matt too, i just lifted it up and the moisture has broken down all the foam in the floor mat and its all over the carpet, so looks like they'll be replacing them too.

Mines only about 3-4 months old and i wash it every week and only just noticed it, last week i had my head down near the passanger floor and thought i could smell something odd but didnt think anything of it. I should have known cause my floors are always spotless and never have a chance of getting dirty let alone smell.

I'm just going to drop mine off at Holden on Thursday morning and they can have it for however long they want as i wont need it for a few weeks and i want it fixed properly. Ofcourse i had to notice it just after i finished installing the amp and all the wiring and now it will all have to come back out!

Thanks mate i just checked mine but its tight as, with the amount of water in the floor the only place it could be coming from is under the front windscreen from all the water that runs down the windscreen when it rains and when i wash it. Theres way to much for it just to be coming from elsewhere.

There was a thread on this a little while back with an S2 ute. Not sure if it was resolved. Something about the seals at the base of rear panel failing. I'll have a dig and see if I can remember what it was.

Pretty common problem actually it's the cab seal under the rear window don't leave it too long otherwise it will cause mould and Holden don't like having to replace the carpet swell as the seal so if possible get it fixed asap

Thanks mate, been reading a few on other forums too. A lot of them said Holden wouldnt replace the underlay but will happily replace mat's under warranty. And a few others said to check the car with the carpet out as theres had really bad rust even after a few months.

They'll be replacing my underlay regardless (passanger side), the carpet is fine as you can shampoo that but ill be making sure the underlay is done, it cant be too hard to remove it from one side only, its already starting to smell.

Although my Holden Dealer doesnt like me so i wont hold my breath, i took it in for a 3000km inspection once, was the first one to arrive and i sat there for 3hrs before they even touched the car but were doing others that turned up after me then after 5hrs they told me id have to wait a further 3 hrs till some parts under warranty arrive cause they hadnt ordered them yet. Needless to say i wasnt the only customer there that day that got up and walked out and told them where to go cause of their customer service.

    *UPDATE*

I dropped it off at Holden yesterday and told them the water is everywhere and its ruined the floor mats so i want them replaced plus the sound dampening underlay and they can have it for as long as they want, i could tell the guy had no interest in what i was telling him so i knew it wouldnt be done.

I get a call 5 hours later to say the car is ready and the problem was actually the aircon hose leaking water inside the car - he said to me it was actually quite bad, first thing i said was: Did you change the underlay? "No" Did you change the floor mats? "No" - he then said, we just soaked up as much as we could through the carpet! WTF? How can you soak up water underneath an inch thick of underlay?

So i said im not picking the car up until these are done because its been like this for months so how does he know rust isnt forming and not to mention it already smells mouldy so the right thing to do would be to pull it out and check for any rust and to replace the smelly moudly, bacteria filled underlay that was caused by their faulty part, because im sure they wont take blame in 10years if the floor rust out. He told me he will leave it in the workshop with the doors open for a few days to dry it out. I told him this is not good enough cause ive already done this for 3 days and its still soaked and it doesnt change the fact it stinks and im seriously not picking the car up and accepting the repair until its done properly.

He then told me it will be up to Holden if they want to go this far, so i told him they will be because its not acceptable that i have bought a car that has a fault and due to it im left with fu#%&* floor mats and a smelly underlay and possible rust forming from months of water sitting inside the car.

I missed their call late last night so i'll be ringing back this morning to find out what they have to say, needless to say i will not be picking the car up even if it takes weeks until they have actually made the effort to do it properly, not just rectify the cause and throw the car back to me.

I rang them back this morning and they agreed to replace the carpet/underlay and said it would take a few days, i hope they put my audio cables back where they were. Glad someone there has half a brain and listened.

It wouldnt suprise me though if they went to the trouble of changing the carpet and leave my stuffed floor mats in there.

    Hey,

I do believe i have the same issue as you scott, i have a massive puddle of water in the rear left hand side on the floor. Never driven through flood water, windows are always up, and its only on one side.

Its three months old, sedan, just done 3000k service checked under neith car, no hole, no seals damaged.
So far it has taken over 7 dry woolen towles and there is still bucket loads of water. Its booked in for two weeks time, and i definately want it fixed. Has there been any problems since you fixed it?
