Just wondering how easy/difficult it is for some to do an exhaust fit themselves of something like this: Here : for a SV6?
Like, is it a process of lifting the car, bolting some crap on and away she goes? Or is it safer to get a pro to do it all and not go through eBay?
EDIT: Yes, I know there is an exhaust thread.. But I don't want to search through a hundred pages for a quick answer >_<
its pretty easy if you have the right exuipment , but for the xforce systems you need to allign them so they fit properly so i recoment taking it to a exhaust shopwill save you alot of time
Manta should bolt up in standard condition
there relatively easy to bolt up, just need yourself a good jack and some proper stands will save you some cash. As mentioned to ensure alignment is correct set the rear of the muffler into the correct position in the rear bumper before you tighten everything up.
cheers
Spark plug socket for the win![]()
Okay, well let's say I try it myself... Worst case scenario, what could go wrong?
Am I going to wreck something on the computer side of things that might cost me more to get fixed?
Try it frist yourself,if you can't do it take it to the local exhaust shop.
Its an easy to do job get the car up on some stands as high as u can to make life easy
its just nuts and bolts and a couple of rubber hangers. The rear muffler hangers can be a little bit of a pain to get in If you put a bit of lube on the rubber hangers it make getting the rear mufflers into the mounts easy. also just keep an eye on where the rear hangers sit cause if you dont get it right the exhaust tips will sit either to high or to low and you will have to pull the rear mufflers out of the hanger and try again. take your time and you should be fine
Awesome as. Sounds like fun![]()
Thanks all for the info. When I have decided what I'm going to buy I'll probably run it by the forums first to make sure I don't buy the wrong thing![]()
If you know a mechanic with a hoist they will probably do it for a case of piss provided you give them a hand.
yeah nothing will be dammagedjust be carefull around the removal of the O2 sensors cause they are screwed in quiet tight and yeah then should be sweet
i had to take mine to exhaust shop coz i couldtn get em of and there was one of the bolts that just couldnt come of with out using a rattle gun lol ####en rusted in
Someone mentioned in another thread that the SV6 already has a 2.25" system through it already? And says there is no point as to putting another 2.25" system on it, even if it is branded Xforce or anything. But didn't go on to clarify.. Any thoughts on this? Recommends only doing the mufflers.
Is there something I'm missing?
