Default VE Weather Strips / Exterior Door mould clips

Hi all, turns out some of the clips on my rear passenger doors (both sides) weather strips have let go of their glue.

so all the clips were still "clipped" in but the weather strip was sitting there sagging down whenever the door was opened.

so i pulled the strip out the way, and removed 2 of the 3 clips ok. the last of the three clips was more stubborn and the head of the clip snapped off and fell inside the body of the car.

i have since replaced the clips and reglued them in place which is fine, im just wondering from this pic you see two holes, the head off the clip has fallen into the lower one and well and truly down into the body of the car.

any idea how/where i can get the broken piece of plastic out? or should I just leave it in there as i wont even notice it?

asking how to get the piece of plastic out as my last car i bought (VZ commo) had something in the passenger door that would roll up to the front when i braked, and roll back towards the rear when i took off.
definately dont want a repeat of that lol.

    any thoughts /tips appreciated.

No idea about getting it out. But this is obviously a common problem, I had it on the car when i bought it.. they replaced both sides and now its back again, Just thought id say i rarely open the rear doors so its no being overly used or bashed... just a poor make.

Also i dont believe its a very cheap piece of plastic for how long it lasts. Cant remember how much i was quoted but it was stupid. May do what you did and glue them back on, Although it doesnt effect me all to much.

    just my 2 cents.

    heya pickle,

if you do decide to glue them, there are 3 colors of clips if i recall correctly.
1 green, 2 white, and 1 yellow. being 4 clips in total.

looking at the rear passenger door, starting from top mid (green), top quarter towards the rear of car (white thin), bottom quarter (white thick), last clip at the bottom and thickest most part of the weather strip (yellow thick).

repairing my two rear passenger door strips \ clips, i have had to replace 1 green, and 1 yellow. i believe the clip colors also represent plastic type as the white clips seem to be softer and the green and yellow alot harder\brittle.
so i picked up the clips i needed to actually replace for less than a dollar each from my local holden dealer, like 90c a pop i think. and reglued them with loctite "Gel control" which is what i always use for bonding any sort of plastic.
i did initially use silicon to re adhere them in place, as that looked to be what they were heldfast with initially, but that didnt hold more than a day or 2 and the sag was happening again.

hope that if you go ahead that this information is of some use.

so sorta offtopic just a little, but does anyone happen to know if the series 2 VE weatherstrip/door molds discussed above will fit a series one VE?
as after doing some research i see the series 2 VE's had the clips on these molds well and truly redesigned to stop the issue mentioned above.

    cheers,
    Timmo
