Hi people, quick question regarding warranty.Car was involved in a crash 6 months ago and had a new front bumper and rear bumper put on. On the weekend i noticed one of the sensors on the rear bumper was loose and was pushed inside the bumper.Booked it into holdens today to get fixed and they said $160, not covered under warranty because the car has been in a crash.Rang the crash repairer who fixed the car and they said no worries bring it in we'll fix it no charge. Now does this sound right by holdens , could i see myself having problems if something else needs fixing under warranty and them saying nah that was due to the car being involved in a crash. I am happy that its getting fixed no charge its just a hassle i have to drive 1 hour to crash repairer when holdens is 5 minutes away. Thank you for any replies
I think it's justified by Holden to say its not their fault. But say of your air conditioning packs it in tomorrow there'd be no grounds for them to refuse to fix it.
Yes, that does sound right. No warranty. It's been molested by a third party, so they can fix it.

New parts should be covered by a new part warranty which is 12 months I think.
I'm assuming the parts are original and not copies. Fitted by a professional shop
Is this it?
It is actually their, not there. Also you misspelled warranty and your second sentence was a question so should have ended with a question mark, not a full stop. And lastly you missed the apostrophe in wasn't. Not really a good idea highlighting another member's poor grammar when yours is terrible as well.
Brian; it seems that since the sensors were altered/removed by the panel shop, then it would be a fair assumption that Holden would not be liable for repair. As long as the repair is made, who cares who does it? As long as you aren't paying.![]()
Different story if the work had been carried out by a holden dealership panel shop (can think of a few in Sydney that have their own panel and paint shops - in which case, that dealership would need to approve the warranty claim, unless they had some prior agreement with GMH) - but any third party work outside of scheduled servicing will pretty much void that part of the warranty.
Thanks guys for your responses, like i said the crash repairer says they will fix it ( no charge) its just an inconvience that i have to drive an hour away.Holden (no s on the end ) said it was a 3-4 hour job as they have to take the bumper off (is this true) or is it a simple little job that they just glue or pop it back in the hole.
Why are you operating under two different names?
Anyway, have a look and feel the inside of the bumper with your finger. There may be a clip on the inside that you can feel. Possibly an original clip that perished as a result of the transfer from the old bumper? If there is no clip, in would suspect they will glue.
Find out what should be there and make sure they don't glue it if there is meant to be a clip.
Looks to me like the head has a flanged outside casing that requires a perfectly sized hole to be mounted.

Yeah sorry couldnt remember my pass word and you have to wait 15 minutes till you can try again so i just set up a new account
Bumper has to come off and then the sensor either clipped in or glued back in depending on the style.
