Angry What to do.. Screw in tyre

Just noticed a screw in my front tyre, and would just like advice on what to do.
I know the rule of thumb is to not touch it, though not knowing how long the screw is, and taking into consideration i still have a fair bit of tread depth, i'm wondering if it has pierced the carcass or not..... and also thinking as the tread wears down, its only going to push the screw further in.

Can i get it repaired? and if so how much is that roughly and is that a temp fix or is it a legit 100% safe long term thing, as the tires are still like new... ####ing spewing!

A tyre shop should be able to plug that without too many issues. I think it was about $30 last time I needed it done and took about 20 minutes. Works fine. Repairs are allegedly fine even for track use - apparently. Certainly fine for the road though.

You can leave it there the head of the screw will just wear off or take it to your preferred tyre place and they will repair it for you for $10-$40.

The repairs are also stronger than the tyre too. So no worries about integrity.

go buy a punture plug kit from your local car store, about $15 or $20 and fix it yourself.you get 5 or 6 plugs in the kit and your good to go in 10 mins.i always carry one in my car as you never know when your going to get a punture.very easy to do and will pay for itself after one punture.most tyre shops charge $20 to $30 to do the same thing you can do yourself.

the tyre shop will do the same fix with a plug unless you specify you want a patch put on the inside of the tyre.

if its a good tyre shop, they will do it properly the first time, if not, they will put in a temp one which only takes a couple of minutes and about 10 bucks to get you out the door.

and they will especially put in a temp one, say, if the tyre is almost bald anyway, not worth spending 30-40 bucks on a busted tyre.

$20 bucks for a plug the last time I got it done at a tyre shop. Had it done a couple of times, never had any issues.

got a plug in my nissan patrol tyre, been there 4 years, done some hard core 4 wheel driving.no problems.the plugs are vulcaniser plugs which are an acceptable form of repair or otherwise every tyre shop in the land would not be using them!

I normally just leave them till the tire starts to loose air. Easy enough to repair though. Some places might complain about it being too close to the edge though.

    1) leave it in, dont touch it.
    2) take it to tyre shop. they will remove it and patch it properly. they'll actually seal the hole in the tyre with stuff that'll never come out.... basically bonds with the tyre completely.

but dont ignore it. get it fixed.

    nice pics btw

My mate who is a tyre fitter at bridgestone is staring at you funny via the internet. Every tyre I've had fixed (had one exactly the same as the OP - self tapping screw from work) has been taken off the rim and had a patch applied to the inside of the tyre. Cost me $20.

In my opinion that screw only looks to be 20mm long, i doubt its even pierced past the tread.

i have worked in a couple of tyre shops and not one of them used a rope plug as im pretty sure they are illegal.
(the only place that did was jax tyres but i only lasted there 4 days because the owner was an all round dodgy ####,not just with punctures)

ye its probably been a week or two.... noticed the ticking when i had the windows down the other day and picked a couple of stones out of the tread on the right hand side, but was still ticking, so checked the left and bingo...

yeah im guessing its just a 20mm tek-screw from in front of work or something, so thats one of the main questions ive got, is if its even pierced the tyre yet.. bit of a gamble not knowing how long the screw is though...

and cheers to everybody else that has replied, will get it sorted on the weekend.
