    Default Stolen tonneau cover

So after having my tonneau cover stolen off my ute while at the shops a couple of weeks ago ive been looking into another means of covering my ute tub. i dont particuly want to use a hardcover as i do transport motos in my ute, but do need something for when i need to leave smaller things in the ute.

Just wondering if anybody knows of any 'lockable' soft tonneau cochvers or knows of a way to make a factory one a bit more theft proof.

    Cheers

Can you put a couple of cable ties or a small padlock somewhere? Maybe up near the rear window, or in the corner through one loop?

    They dont have loops unfortunately.

No real way to secure them that I can think of.

i had a ute a few years back mate.... one of the main reasons I sold it is exactly the same problem you have now. bloody thieves .

no way to secure a soft cover mate. you can padlock it, you can cable tie it, but at the end of the day they just need a simple stanley knife to cut it away and take it.

Buy a dog. Any of the real nasty breeds should do the trick. Train him to attack anyone who touches the car. Take off the tonneau, leave the dog in the back, and see how many people steal your stuff now

Any way you could drill through the aluminium support brace and use cables to lock it to the tie down points? I know the tonneau can just basically be slid off the rail but it's something - and can't be used really without the rail (unless the low life stealing it already has one, I guess).

I've actually had to lock my spare wheel under the tray - had 2 pinched (matching alloys, incidentally) from my old ute - learned my lesson (probably should have done it after the first one though)

What about the little roller door contraptions that they have on the new ranger wildtrak. Don't know how coat effective etc it would be but you could lock it and then roll it up when you're loading up the bikes

But not sure if he would still get his bike in with the space of the roller top behind the back window.

Ive had a bit of a look at the roller door style lids, but dont really want to be running my bikes into it if its too big when rolled up. hard cover is last resort at this pount.

I was also thinking of getting a set of the sports bars and a soft cover to suit, and moddibg the cover so it secures around the bars with of steel and some small bolts, and then tech screwing the cover to the bar that fits up under the rear window, and cone up with a way to lock or bolt that bar to the tub. A bit of work, but the soft cover is the most ideal for me.

How did ya do this man? Just a chain + padlock or what? Doesn't look like theres too much to padlock it onto. I have a spare omega stocky I was thinking of replacing it with, but I don't think it would fit the front brakes?

I've heard of/seen quite a few utes where jerks just get the ole boltcutters onto the spare wheel chain. For no apparent reason but to be a knob
