have a chat to these ppl. Bluewire Motorsport - PKE PAGER CAR ALARM + REMOTE START (2-WAY FM)
also have quicktrak gps monitoring i have also options set on the remotes to turn on my neon's under the car. when the car is unlocked at night. get a few looks when ppl see it. i dont abuse using the neon's. the police can be tough if you use them on road. so far no problems talked to a few TOG police just told me not on when driving only when its parked. and dont abuse using them. good to have a nice car. and keep it. get tinted windows too. most wont smash a tinted window as its more effort. u having a SSV there going after all the extras u have to drop into other plain ve cars. get good lock nuts for ur wheels too. not the crap ones. my alarm has gone off a few times. paged me fast. and i called quicktrak to see if the car was moving it wasnt. i told them just shut the engine down until i got back to car. even though my paged message said shock sensor i still got engine shut down. most expensive cars like bmw and Mercedes have shut down systems. also have u make a call and give password and they unlock the car for u via satellite

That's a pretty impressive alarm and anti-theft system.
mongoose have a alarm to suit the VE, I charge about 550 fitted, you can upgrade to a gps tracker too.
Thanks for the info im definatly gettin quiktrak i think $700 is great value for wot it does i was expecting to pay well over 2k!
hey guys, would these systems trigger if some prick was stealing my spare alloy from under my ute? (which just happened). These ve ss wheels are a popular choice amongst thieves.
If it has motion alarm sensors then yes
How much does quicktrack cost? is it a one off payment or ongoing? Also is it just a tracking system or is it also and alarm/immobilizer?
Mod's feel free to delete if innapropriate.
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
Just a quick note about car alarms, GPS tracking etc....
99% of the time, the installation of the product is more important than the actual product itself.
I used to be an authorized quick track installer years ago. Yes, very good gear, but at the time many installations of this stuff was bodgy as hell.
Simple stuff like
Taping / cable tyeing the main module beneath the steering column (Where is the first place a thief goes when he wants to hot wire a car ???), Not using fused outputs on turn signal indicator outputs, (Short an indicator bulb, and trigger the alarm, and watch the main fuse power the alarm blow to disable the alarm).
Running the engine cutout on the start signal, straight from the ignition barrel (Again What is the quickest way to hotwire a car)..
Not using soldered joints, and simply twitching wires together with a bit of electrical tape.
I pretty much saw it all back in the day, and I use to show friends how quickly I could bypass some of these "professionally" installed systems.
In the end, make sure the installer has the following,
1) A Security License (In NSW,they should hold a 2C License, which will cover you if the car is stolen, and the insurance company wants to play hardball), or
2) The Company completing the installation holds a security master license and you are issued with an invoice the includes the companys logo, ABN, and master license number.
I have personally seen claims declined because the owner could not prove that the system was professionally installed by a licenses security operative (Im looking at you Strathfield car Radios) !!!
In know who im getting to install my security system on my next car!!
Just my two cents here... There is no point installing a car alarm. How many people do you see reacting to them? Police certainly won't and a professional will only take a few seconds to disable it and drive off (or flat bed tow it).
The only worthwhile investment imo is a tracking unit with remote shut off. Police WILL respond to those and once they've confirmed they have the car in site, it's disabled - job done.
Don't waste money on anything audible or flashy. Just a nice stealth tracker with disable. They can also SMS you and double as a data logger if every you loan your car to someone or need to dispute a speeding fine (if you weren't actually speeding).
Cheers.
I agree with Rufys here...
The problem with shock sensors is that they react to low frequency noise...
How many times do you see a car alarm triggered by some cheap droney 4 cyl exhuast buzz box driving by...
Internal Ultrasonics are good for detecting movement / glass breakage, but they are also can be false triggered by interior trim plastics expanding and contracting when the vehicle is parked in direct sunlight.
For my previous car, I used a pager alarm, with the shock sensor turned right down, and ultrasonics.
Truth be told, the alarm only helped me out once, and that car had been keyed, house paint thrown at it, oil poured over the boot, passenger door dented, and mirror broken.
To solve the vandalism problem, I installed CCTV cameras covering the street, and placed signage out the front....
This seems to have been MUCH better at protecting my car than a car alarm would....
Tracking systems on the other hand are fantastic.
There is no range issues (They can alert you to movement, hot wire, door open and break in via SMS),
as well as sending you the vehicles current GPS location via SMS, or with GPRS, you can use a tracking site...
Personally, the Quicktrack stuff is very expensive for what it is, (The ongoing Tracking costs are what kills it for many people).
I fitted a generic TK-103 car tracker to my VE, and I am using open source Tracking software (opengts.org) to track the car live.
These things are as cheap as chips (around $120 for a good one), can be installed yourself (Just take your time to do the install properly),
and a few insurance companies will give you a 5% discount on comprehensive insurance if you fit one...
The amount I saved fitting one of these was MORE than the cost of buying the unit.. So it was kinda a no brainer for me...
