Default Oil pressure and oil temp after market gauges

Hi just recently got oil pressure and temp gauges installed after my mates ss oil pump shit it self so I
Thought I would play it safe and get some installed of my own

Any way when I go over 3500rpm it stops and stays at 60psi is this normal or should this increase more as the rpm increases

Was told as a rule of thumb that for every 1000rpm the pressure should increase 10psi

And as for oil temp what's the average when cruising at high way speeds

    Cheers

I get about 420kpa (60psi) on cold start, then it drops to about 380kpa. Driving the car untill it reaches max engine temp can vary up to 420kpa. When everything is hot (30min of driving) the oil temp is around 108 degrees C. Mine I think is running a few degrees hotter than normal as its only a new brand new donk, so will still be a little tight.

Once everything is nice and hot if I excellerate to 3,000rpm or just over the oil pressure will just touch the 400kpa (around the 60psi) From what I understand there is a pressure reliefe valve in the sump to keep thing stable. If you build to much pressure you could blow the oil filter off....

Not sure if this helps. Oh, one other thing. Is your engine an L76 (with AFM) or L98? reason I ask is, then L76 has a higher volume oil pump and will show higher oil pressure readings than the L98.

    Cheers

Thanks oil pressure seems to be ok but oil temps worrying me now

When I picked her up was told the oil temp should get to about 100-110 degrees that's fine as I was driving through the city but come to the highway temp droped to about 65 degrees is this normal.

    Cheers

Depends if it has an oil cooler for engine oil. Mine stays at 107 during the warmer (27+ degrees) days. In winter it takes longer to reach these temps but is always over 100 degrees. Oil temp levels can also change with driving behaviour, if you flog it hard it will be alot higher, but not the reverse if you baby it. Having those mods may increase the normal readings. All the readings I have stated are on an un modified L77. Mine also only takes about 30 minutes of driving to reach 107 degrees.

If your seeing some strange readings it could be related to the after market sensors and gauges if you have them installed. My SSV comes with the 3 window display above the vents...

No it don't have a oil cooler I just find it strange that the temp varies heaps. Will ask my tuner next time I c him who installed it .which should be Saturday hopefully.

Other than that he did tell me that the oil pressure gauge is out 30-35psi on gauge at idle and actual is 25 psi he said that they could be faulty gauges they are drift brand ones any thoughts
