Default FIRST CAR - VE OMEGA, Any advice?

    Hey guys.

I'm getting my first car in the next few months (hopefully an Omega), I've scraped together enough cash for an Omega but I was just wondering if I should look out for anything?

    The Plan:
    Budget: $12,000 (MAX $13,000)
    Preferred KMs: < 120,000
    Preferred Year: 06-08

If you guys have any advice then let me know

    Thanks!

I haven't driven an Omega of any age, but if I was after one, I'd want the SIDI despite it dropping to 3L. It has more power than the older alloytec, and is far better on fuel. The MY10 (SIDI) essentially looks the same as the MY9.5 (Alloytec) too.

You can pick up a nice MY10 for around the $19 000 mark. Just did a quick search on carsales.com of NSW. Or, outside of NSW there's even some for a little as $14 000.

    EDIT

However, if you don't care about age or km's, here's one for a very low price. Definitely the first one I've seen below $10 000. I wouldn't buy one with that many km's however.

I bought a second-hand 2010 Omega 3.0 litre, during 2010. I've done 20,000km in a little under a year, and I'm very happy with it: especially the fuel economy on long trips.
If you haven't bought one yet, check out Pickles Auctions (all over Oz): that's where the dealers get their stock, but they add $6,000 or so to the auction price.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies.

    The Plan:
    Budget: $12,000 (MAX $13,000)
    Preferred KMs: < 120,000
    Preferred Year: 06-08

Omega's seem to be pretty quick-moving on Carsales, I've bookmarked my search preferences and have been watching it over the past couple of weeks. Just last night there were 117 Omegas up for sale and right now there are only 84. It seems to go up and down quite often.

    These are my search preferences:
    State:Victoria
    Make:HOLDEN
    Model:COMMODOR
    Badge:OMEGA
    Price:$7,500 - $15,000
