My A/C belt keeps spitting off when i take the big bitch over 4.5k... It has one of those auto tensioners on it which i think is half the trouble... I recently changed out the harmonic balance cause as well all know the factory GM ones are shite but the alignment is sweet...
Can anyone reccomend a pulley kit with after market tensioner or a solution.."?
Cheers

Sounds like your tensioner spring is stuffed I'd just replace it
There was a fix for this, have you had it done? There's a thread in this section with the part numbers listed. They're about $80-$100 from Holden as far as I remember.
Updated Air Con Compressor Bracket...
All VE V8's from 6G1EP4EH2AL419681 19/11/09 production on incorporate this fix.
For those whose cars are now out of warranty, or mod level leads to warranty rejection, these parts are now available for purchase at quite reasonable cost, and will take just over an hour to fit.
Part No.: Description
92252927 A/C Bracket Assembly (inc idler pulley)
92244381 A/C Belt
$125 buys both the above from your local Holden parts department.
This page has information on how to change the Aircon compressor bracket from the workshop manual..

Here's the thread I was referring to: Anyone had problems with spitting off air-con belts on 6.0Ltr motors?
And the post by a Holden mechanic (as far as I know):
I used these parts on my 06 Calais and it hasn't thrown a belt since.
Spewin just realised you have to remove the A/C compressor and open the system to do so...
My mechanic didn't have to de-gas the A/C and I vaguely remember reading somewhere on this forum that the compressor can be just moved aside.
I'm not sure why the part Zerone listed for the bracket is different to the one recommended by the Holden mechanic though.
[edit]
That info is in the thread I linked to earlier... This link will take you straight to the part regarding the removal of the AC compressor: Anyone had problems with spitting off air-con belts on 6.0Ltr motors?
Alright well thats good enough for me to have a crack at mine... I'll take some photos when im doing it for others reference...
Yeah, you dont need to remove the compressor to fit the bracket...
There are quite a few different part numbers for this bracket...
I just checked my invoice from Holden (1 month ago), and the part number listed 92252928.
9225297 was superceded by this part, and ecetera ecetara....
Yep def dont need to d/c the compressor, just unbolt it and move it a bit.
Silver Certified.
thanks for your help there guys... I fitted up the modified bracket on Saturday and she is running great.... A bit of a mission but worth the effort...Thanks again
