Hi guys,
Was driving along a single lane country road the other day doing the 100kph speed limit. As I came up behind a slower car I had to reduce speed to about 90 untill it was safe to overtake. However, when I pulled out to overtake and put the foot down there was a definate hesitation (maybe 1-2 secs) before the power kicked in. Anyone else noticed this ? Is this normal ?
my sidi omega does this abit with out load
Hey mate, even my SS used to do this until I got my diff changed. Even with a tune, there was sometimes a slight hesitation as if it didn't know what I wanted to do when I put my foot down!! I guess with an auto you have to expect a slight hesitation.
Cheers
Yeah normal, they have a hesitation if you put the foot flat to the floor fast. If you ease it on at first then boot it works better.
You'll find the slight hesitation is the transmissions torque management. The transmission will command "zero" torque from the motor whilst it makes the change from 6th back to 3rd or even 2nd. This is an inbuilt function designed to increase transmission longevity. Can be annoying at times but I know to expect it and am satisfied knowing that it's only the transmission trying to protect itself.
when i got my car from the dealer he said it will do that because apparently it wants to motor to get the correct amount of petrol for the engine to do it efficiently and easily and possible. so its supposed to do that, nothing wrong with ur car![]()
I have more of a problem with it holding gear when overtaking, it almost sits on the rev limiter for way too long before changing down a gear. Can Holden ever get anything right? I don't think they have the brains to.
Its a combination of the crappy Drive by Wire Throttle and the Auto Gearbox cutting power as it kicks down. The gearbox also becomes more responsive if you drive it hard as it learns your driving style.

More mods to come
My ss used to do it most times but my clubby now has never hesitated i have an auto naturally but the clubbys auto holds gear longer when you slow down not like my ss maybe if u get the auto tuned to hsv's auto might fix the issue. Well thats what iam thinking it is.
A tune will definitely clean up these auto characteristics

i gotta say, mine doesnt do this.... so i can safely say not normal behaviour for everyone.
when i want to overtake, i boot it. no hessitation underload at all.
I found before overtaking put it in sports mode, revs go a little higher then overtake(if you have sports mode).
Work for me.
