Ah the day has came, pulled over and defected...
Too low and also the reason i am posting this thread somthing about rolling diameter?
Yes wheels are too big. Can some one please give me the details i need to figure out if i can keep or unfortunatley get rid of them?
I cant drive my car after wedneday so please please if you have any information i would love for you all to share and help me out.
thanks guys and girls
my car was defected a while back. the only person i could get wheel specs and laws off was a tire dealer.. if the rim diameter and a tire spec was in there catalog they deamed it legal... i called the police and pitts and they didnt help.
Gotta love good help huh...
Well if any one else has answers.

What size are your wheels?
Get a tyre placard off ebay. I got one for my VE with 20's as they come from factory with 20" wheels.
Search for "ve commodore placard" on ebay.
What specs are your tires? If they are 245/35R20 95W then you will be in luck as they are factory specs.
Stockies to clear the defect then put your wheels back on.
Well in QLD you're generally not allowed more than 2" above biggest rolling diameter according to tyre placard and no lower than 100mm which they test with 2 wheels on a stick they shove under your car and if it hits anything you're defected.
EDIT: But generally the laws differ a little from state to state. Best contact the anti hoon division of the Police for further rules and regulations.
The VE is a pretty rough ride lowered even a little bit but you must be tucking seriously for them to even notice this, you'd almost be able to feel the paint on the line markers...
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
Yeah its not often that Troy completely misses the mark. Perhaps an off day eh.
According to your profile you own an SV6? With that in mind I rang Brendon in traffic control (Qld Police) for his take on your (alledged) defect. I'll quote him: "if it looks lowered then over the pits it will go." Your vehicle's suspension is apparently built to meet a standard and anything outside of that standard is defective. I told him you already knew that, so what is the standard and what is the tolerance permitted above or below that standard. He doesn't know. It's up to the guys on the day in the pits. Sorry man, but the answer isnt as easy as I thought it might be. He also rambled on about other stuff, such as if you want to drive around lowered then do it under the radar otherwise you are inviting them to issue a defect. he also went on about..........(I am a bass player, I switched off as soon as the waitress brushed passed me).
Some interesting info:
A mate of mine owns a SV6 ute. I was selling some rims and he wanted them. As he was on his P's he was very particular about making sure the rims would suit. Now, I have Kumho KU31's on the car and said he was welcome to them as I would simply buy new tyres with my new rims or he could be buy the rims only. The tyres are correct load rated to my car and are load rated to like 295k's or whatever that top rating is.
Initially we thought this would therefore be fine as the Maloo lists the same tyres and load ratings as my car. Well, not so on the SV6. It specifies a smaller amount. Basically this meant he could not put my 20's on his car. But, hang on I hear you say. I can order a SV6 from a dealer with Supersports on it. Yes you can. The dealer takes delivery of the car and removes the tyre placard and puts a new one to state the car has the 20's on it.
He simply ended up getting a tyre placard from Holden and now has my wheels.
I have heard some really ridiculous defects of late. One mate was pulled over and defected but some traffic task force. He said the cop really knew his sh*t and was quite cool about the whole thing recognising my mates VE was a very tidy car.
I would think the dealer also re calibrated the ECU/speedo etc when fitting 20's.
considering a VE can take 20's anyway, would this really be something they would do?
Your allowed the biggest size your modle came out with and then 1 size bigger.. My vn just passed with 18's..
Also its a 10% rolling diameter..
Vehicle standards information sheets
then go to link number 8 "guide to alternative wheels and tyres"
that is obviously a NSW answer ... but it should give you an idea about rolling diameter ...
2010 SIDI sv6 ... 180atw ... more to come
ok i just went through this bs with blueslip on my vs v6 commodore in NSW, anything that comes standard on the same body and suspension, as i had 17s on he tried knocking it back, i said hang on the gts n that came out with 17s, he said so they did, these are legal, well thats my theory and it works
Vs eco 3.8, extractors, 2.75" exhaust, roller rockers, cammed, bored out 20, t5 manual, rolling on king springs all way round with monroe gt shocks all way round, every door has a ding but looks can be very deceaving
Why some clowns spend thousands of dollars making their car illegal is beyond me. Lowering a car is one of the stupidest things, imagine paying someone to enable your exhaust to be ripped off at a speed hump
A good guide to what's legal and what's not > if it came out on that model it legal, if you have changed it then it's illegal
