Hey guys,
I have this ANNOYING metallic rattle! I'm not sure what it is. It only rattles when I drive over rough surfaces on the road.
I took my car up a side street, and applied the brakes quite hard, and no rattle.
I know nothing about suspension and such, so I have no idea where to start.
Cheers for any input!
i won't recommend any particular brand, but i know the front pads do make the car rattle. I had a rattle develope with mine.... it wasn't until about 2 weeksafter i pulled the calipers off to paint them. I managed to mangle one of the shims that clip the pad into place. After it near drove me mad, i pulled the front left caliper off and found the problem, fixed it and it hasn't made a noise since.

- UNDERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
- OVERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the rear.
- HORSEPOWER is how fast you hit the wall.
- TORQUE is how far you take the wall with you.
I CANNOT for the life of me find anything...it seems almost a squeak/rattle
I'm gonna go nuts on the car with a can of Inox, after work tomorrow night.
Hopefully it helps.
Well...1 can of WD-40 later and I have eliminated the squeak!
Now my only problem is I have lost about 80% of my brakes. I think I got some on my pads...
Hopefully it evaporates?
check the thin plates that clip your pads in place, they will rub on your disc and cause a noise. Happened with mine, and mu son put VE brakes on his VR and it did the same thing.

There are revised Brake Pads shims to stop the rattle/squeal that the brakes produce. lightly press the brakes while driving over a piece of road where the rattle is heard and see if it stops. If it does, then fit them, Also remove the pads and clean your pads with brake cleaner to bring back your braking efficiency.
Yep, I have the same problem with the shims in the calipers. But I have given up trying to fix them.
I have a new sound which only happens when I turn the car on first thing in the morning. It makes this rattle etc but once it heats up it goes away
