Thats right, with the AC and fan switch off the flaps keeping making noises. It sounds like there's a midget in the dash that keeps loading a shotgun. chick chick pause chick chick ?
Why would the flaps be active at all when the system is turned off ?
Is it on city mode (I think that's what it's called), when the car goes under 10kph it goes into re-circ mode automatically?

Yes I know, if you get anymore manly you are in danger of making yourself pregnant!
Try doing a HVAC door relearn.
Ign on but engine off, press and hold the rear demister button till you hear all the actuators moving.
They are fairly quiet so close all the doors and windows so you can hear them working.
Did you check ur glovebox for some screws? Reminds me of that supercheap add haha
haha, its not in City mode and no screws in the glovebox... I guess i'll try and re learn. Just strange that it does this when the system is switched off. When the fan or AC is on it behaves perfectly !
Does it do it when u ign on but dont start the car?

i had a similar problem with my VE SS.
ticking coming from the AC when running(i know yours isnt though) and intermittent ticks when it wasnt running.(which yours is)
turns out it was my air conditioner compressor, had it replaced on wednesday. got her back and no more ticking at all.
this was covered under a warranty for me so im not to sure how much coin that would be worth.
may not be the exact same problem, but might be worth taking it in to a mechanic to test the AC compressor. good luck!
Am i the only one that opened this thread expecting something different because of the title ?
Reviled did i live as evil i did deliveR
- UNDERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
- OVERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the rear.
- HORSEPOWER is how fast you hit the wall.
- TORQUE is how far you take the wall with you.
HAHA, well at least i got you to open my thread !! try googling that and see what you find.
Ricey, checked with ignition on and fan off. made a couple of noisees after waiting a while but not as many as it makes at the traffic lights.
So i tried the relearn, heard all the flaps go up down up ( or the other way ).... so i'll find out tomorrow if that has fixed it.
My climate control is always moving the doors (flaps) whether the things on or off. Sounds like the noise you get when standing on an empty Coke bottle (plastic).
Holden can't hear it (surprised) and I've become accustomed to explaining to passengers of what the noise is. Any noise $hits me.
Turn the radio up...

If you hear clicking when you do a relearn then one of the actuators has stripped and needs to be replaced.

Another possibility is that on earlier VEs the recirc door breaks at the hinge. If you always have the ac on recirc mode the car will automatically go to fresh every 30-45 mins to prevent the buildup of carbon dioxide in the cabin so this may be why you hear the clicking without changing modes.

All the vents behave normally in all the different modes while the system is on as far as i've noticed .. screen, face, face and feet, feet, recirc etc. I'll have a good look in the holidays on the passenger side if there might be one i haven't noticed but don't think so. Its not one of those power draining bugs in early VE's is it ?
another thing i noticed today which does not seem right .. I had the fan running on Face setting and turned the temp dial up a few degress from i think it was 20 up to 23. As i did that the display ( and vents ) changed from face only, to face and feet !?? Why would the temp dial have any impact on the air direction ?
Im guessing your car is haunted.
