I had a similar problem with my VZ, and I hope the VE isn't going the same way so soon ...
Turn CC "on" - no problem;
then attempt to set speed, thereby moving to "active" mode - no response; stays "on" until you turn it off.
It's only happened once so far. After I switched off the engine, and re-started, CC worked fine, and has been fine ever since.
Is this a common problem ?
Ive never had an issue with the CC in my VZ SV6. Always works perfectly.
2.5" Single catback, LSD with 3.46 diff gears, Mace Manifold spacer, K&N panel filter ,VCM Dyno tune, RDA slotted and dimpled rotors.
More mods to come
Happened to me the other day. Just turned it off and on again and it worked a treat.
BB: thankyou: mine came good after re-starting the engine. But I "offed" the CC, several times, and each time I turned it on, it was still a non-goer.
Could be a faulty wire in the switch ... at least in the VS that's often what is was because the stalk hinges up and down when you turn the blinkers on the wire gets fatigued
VE stalks work on contacts at the pivot point so they dont suffer the same issue.
Silver Certified.
I've had that happen a few times, but I think it's due to a sticky cruise control "ON' switch in my case. To turn the cruise control ON, you flick down the end of the indicator switch and it normally flicks back up again due to spring tension on the switch. Every now and then, mine sticks in the down position. This has exactly the effect you describe - the CC will turn ON but not engage. I have to return the sticky switch to the centre position, turn the ignition off and then on, and everything works fine from there. Yours may be a different problem, but I suspect that the CC computer will disable the 'engage' function if it detects any CC problems until thy ignition is cycled off and on again.
Hope that helps.
never had any issues, sorry mate
I've had this happen a few times but every time I go to fix it it starts working again. When it does it again I might get some contact cleaner into it.
I've got the same problem on VE Berlina...It won't go for Cruise Active, just sits there with Cruise ON, no metter how many times I try rotating the indicator switch. After switching the engine off and then back on, it seems to come back to life.
Does anybody know if this is definitely related to the indicator wires? I'm thinking it may be to do with the actuator (or whatever it is) or software that controls acceleration...and I don't want to replace the indicator switch for nothing.
Sounds like a computer thing to me...
Its one thing I've never had happen!
Never argue with idiots. They will only bring you down to their level, then beat you with experience.
That's what I was thinking...Hmm, I'll get it in for extensive electrical check...Cheers
do these use a switch on the brake pedal like the older VN-VS setups? On the older systems they will turn ON but not SET if the car thinks the brake pedal is being depressed due to a dodgy/out of adjustment switch.
This would make sense mate, but how come it's resolved after engine restart? Maybe because you usually press the brake pedal when you start the engine and that re-aligns the pedal switch...I'll check that out. Cheers
The brake (and clutch where applicable) will disengage CC. never tried the handbrake though...
