    Default Heater Hose Relocation

Ok guys this has been discussed through threads but I cannot actually find a direct link that says "this is how to do it"

I bought the heater hoses from the early model commodore. Part number 92026765

Now I understand that you disconnect the hoses from the firewall and then somehow reattach to the existing heater hoses when you have moved them to the spot you want.

Question 1: On the heater hoses standard on the VE, they have a covering on them. Is this purely to protect the hoses from heat when draped across the motor. The reason I ask is that I saw a 'kit' using these two same 'early' model commodore hoses and it had some sort of sheath on them as well. Is it necessary

Question 2: I was of the understanding that the best way to do the relocation was straight down the firewall to the gully next to the motor. Will these hoses allow me to do it this way. Or does it not matter?

Question 3: how do you attach into the existing clamps?

Now before anyone says things about other threads, yes I have read them. But I am a little confused about a couple of the specifics.. The clamp/joiner part is the bit really throwing me as is the 'sheaving' on the hoses

Hey mate did mine thisarvo. I put the 90deg end straight onto the motor and ran them behind the wiring under the abs module. Once past there ran them across the thin steel brake line near the booster. You can still use the Spring clamps from the old hoses. Don't mix up the clamps as they are both different sizes.

Now it's just a matter of trimming off the excess hose I cut approx 8-9inches off both. Was an easy job . If you want any mor info send me a pm

Almost forgot I grabbed some hose wrap from pirtek but where the hoses are running I'm confident it's not needed

I retained the standard hoses and didn't cut anything when performing this mod. Mostly out of sight apart from across the firewall above the brake booster.

A very worthwhile mod for any VE.

Thanks mate. But I'm confused again. Those two early model commodore hoses are the same size. Why the comment about different size clamps

Edit: hose wrap- what's that, how much etc. is it similar to what Holden use

The two fittings on the motor are 2mm difference and the clamps are an exact size so best not to mix them up. but both hoses still go on no problems (they're designed to stretch).it's quite easy once you pull it of and have a look.

The hose wrap is just a plastic spiral to protect the hose. I didn't bother putting it on as it's not on anything sharp so can't be damaged. Not sure on cost I got the wrap from work we have it by the box for machinery
