Hi, what's the major difference between the my10 and series 2, 2010 sv6's. Which one is worth more? Also I am able to buy a sv6 damaged 2010 for 10k, which needs about 8k to get back on the road with Rego, is it worth it ? As most 2010 sv6 are 25+? Sorry I just need quick advice from the experts as I am in the process to buy this car now. Thanks
All depends on what damage is done to the car, who is telling u it needs 8k to fix, the dude selling it or a panel shop ? .
I'd be loathed to buy anything that has been bingled.
If a $10k car spending $8k on it makes it worth $25k, why wouldn't the seller do it?
If the $8k damage includes anythign structural, I wouldn't touch it
Current Ride: 2011 VE Sedan - In Voodoo of course.
Last Ride: 2004 Subaru Liberty GT, Twin scroll turbo, tuned, Bilsteins, sway bars, no rice, 420Nm
Also Own: 1964 EH Wagon, modified interior, minor modifications outside
A repaired previously damaged car will never be as good as one that hasnt been damaged in the first place. I'd rather a series 1 undamaged than a series 2 with "8k repairs to get it back on road" (yeah right.... they always find more crap wrong when tey know you are paying from your wallet and not insurance company- it's 10k plus).
There will be things that will never be quite right that would piss me off. Wind noise, creaks and rattles, and just the knowledge that the car isnt 'new' anymore.
Resale will also suffer.
Oh... and a 2010 damaged VE selling for 10k tells me it's too much headache for current owner to do it.... so what makes you think its ok for you?
As others have stated, steer clear of that deal with the damaged S2.
To answer your first question, the main differences are the Series 2 has the IQ in the dash, and the front end has been tweaked with headlights, grille and bottom of front spoiler reshaped. The engine is the same, with slight efficiency increases.
I had this dilemma when I bought my MY10 SV6 a few months back. I really wanted the new Series 2, but due to financial reasons settled on the Series 1. While I'll never know what it's like to own a brand new Series 2, I'm pleased with my choice, as forced as it was. My car was cheaper by about 10k, and I don't feel like I'm missing out on much. Despite that, I still say if I'd had the money, I would have gone the Series 2.
A general price guide when I was looking a few months back was a my car was $24k with 50k on the clock, while a demo or executive driven Series 2 would set you back anywhere from $30k to $35k on a standard, unoptioned car that had done a couple of thousand km's.
*This was before the MY12 came out, so prices would have dropped on earlier models.
