    Default VE SV6 2010 - vibration at the wheel @ over 90km/h

    Hi,

Driving up the F3 this morning and noticed that the steering wheel has a slight vibration when speed is over 90 km/h. It's the first time I've noticed it. The car was built Aug 2010 and has done 14k.

Reading around the forum, it seems that everyone goes for a wheel alignment plus balance. Should that be my first step? From memory, places like Bob Jane or Beaurepaires charges around $110-$150 for this type of job... so just want to get your thoughts on whether I should spend that money?

    Appreciate any advice...

Balance only to get rid of vibration.

Wheel align only necessary if youre getting uneven tyre wear or not driving straight.

    • UNDERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the front of the car.

    • OVERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the rear.

    • HORSEPOWER is how fast you hit the wall.

    • TORQUE is how far you take the wall with you.

And to clarify only the front wheels cause steering shake if unbalanced. The rears youll feel the vibration though your butt.

Go to somewhere that doesn't cost $110 - $150 for a wheel alignment. This is a surprisingly high price.

Had the same issue in my '07 Lumina.

I got all four wheels balanced and aligned (hadn't been done in over 35,000k's) for only $105.
