how do I know I checked on vic roads website it said this
no-encumbrance
does that mean it has no finance owing ?
If your buying from a private party it would probably pay for you to buy a certificate as the free one is no guarentee of clear title.
If your buying from a licensed dealer they guarentee clear title as part of their licensing agreement, so you won't need to buy a certificate.
they told me it had no finacne owing because it was baught though a comapny ? and the dealer books are all in the buissness name
A company just like a private buyer has no guarentee for a clear title. I know alot of people who have been burned (Ive been in the Car Industry 22 years) who chose to go the way of a free REVS check and got burned down the line.
If this car is worth owning it's worth paying for a REVS certificate. Just my 2 cents worth...good luck
can you link me to do it im in vic

here we go again...........................
mate its your dads ve sv6 mocked up as a ssv. ask him does he have a loan on it? only the buyer needs the proof not the seller. your dad justs needs to be truthful when selling as being incumbent is not a show stopper. as VICROADS states is OK so no issue. just let your dad handle it mate as you seem to have no idea. and yes "no-encumbrance" means it has no financial interest registered against it via a bill of sale.

NO INTEREST RECORDED
Always make sure that you have the correct Rego, Engine and VIN number from the vehicle. Failure to do so could result on a search of the wrong vehicle.
There are no financial interests recorded on the vehicle details you have provided. REVS can offer you a search certificate for $14.45 which confirms the result of this enquiry. The certificate will protect you against an attempt at repossession of the vehicle by a financier who has not recorded their interest in the vehicle, due to a previous owner not having paid out the loan.
Ring REVS to order a search certificate BEFORE you buy the vehicle.
If it is a NSW registered vehicle it is also advisable for you to check which insurer the CTP (green slip) policy is with and confirm that the policy is current, as any unpaid CTP policy may transfer to you.

From the REVS site....free certs dont tell you anything but the basics....If you dont know the seller and it's not a licensed Motor Vehicle dealer then buy the certicate and save yourself possible heartache later.
If as the title states, "how do I know if I have finace on a car I bought", its on a car you bought, which you didnt, but lets for arguments sake say you did buy it, surely you would know if you had finance on a car you bought because you would be paying it off weekly/fortnightly/monthly....
Did you read the first post..... Like as to why he asked....
Yeah probably not a bright idea to post your VIN
May I remind members of the following rule:

Thread cleaned
Whats the big deal with posting up a VIN?
In Victoria, VIN numbers are freely available on registered cars anyway...
As up here. But on a highly modified car you would prefer people not to have 'easy' access to a vital piece of information
This user has never been baited. It continually posts up troll threads which can be seen by a simple search of threads he has created. Hes constantly caught out lying and does nothing but waste peoples time.
The OP is the one that needs a warning, not the people that are sick of his crap.
Silver Certified.
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
If you had money owing on your car, how would you not know? And if you did owe money and you weren't making payments then the car would be up for repossession.
