hey all,
once again im probably worried about nothing but a mate pointed out something with my rear seats leather covering.
its like theres supposed to be a clip under the middle seat to hold the leather stretched so you dont see the grey felt underlay.
does any one elses car look like this?
notice where the leather ends in the middle and then you can see grey carpet / felt
just want to know if i need to replace a clip under the seat or if this is normal.
i dont have access to look at a leather seated VE locally at a dealer anytime soon.
advice/thoughts appreciated
cheers, timmo
just had a look at mine although mines cloth and doesn't do that, and i think the slide out cupholder in the wagon stops the fabric moving
The Mad Dutchman
I have leather mine doesn't look like that either
I run my hand under the edge of the felt\carpet and thers like a plastic piping sewn onto the felt stuff. I followed that to both the left and right sides of the car and the plastic piping clips into little hooks that are attached to the underside of the seat to keep the leather taught. guess theres just a clip broken off or missing in the middle. if i find the replacement clip at my local holden dealer ill post a pic for anyone else who may have the same issue.
Mine is the same, never tried to fix it so will be interested if someone finds a fix!
hey all, so i went to holden, and they cant tell me which clip is missing, or even if there should be a clip there. helpful stuff!
so i went to the local upholsterer who has seen the problem in more than a few leather covered VE's. apparently there is two wire rings. one wrapped around the plastic tubing i mentioned above. and one that is up inside the body of the seatframe.the rings are just linked together and then squashed closed. upholsterer tells me that its just general wear and tear and the factory rings are cheap weak metal, so they stretch and break fairly easily. so he has put thicker ones in than factory, so should last alot longer and looks the goods!
all in all, guess if anyone else has the same issue, take your car to a reputable upholsterer IMO. my local holden dealer was not as helpful as id hoped.
hope this is helpful for some.
cheers,
Timmo
