    Default rego and ctp costs...

So it's come time to renew my registration and pay for CTP on my VE series 2 ute...and I'm in shock as to how much of a price hike it is over my old car.

My old car was a golf VR6, a rare and expensive car to maintain and run..and insurance companies knew that. Total was about $1000 each year.

This ute, considering it has better economy, is brand new and is made in Austraila, is going to be $1600.

Is there something wrong there? I've NEVER heard of rego costs this high.
    Cheers,

    Mickey

Yea mate if you live in NSW CTP has just one up 17% recently heard it on the radio a few weeks ago... Best thing to do would be shop around, if u in QLD then there cheaper than NSW not sure about VIC.. It's insane how much it's all gone up.. I'm not sure what mine is yet I got a new SS so it's not up for rego untill August this year.

I wonder if it's worth ringing my own insurance company to push for a discount on CTP considering my comprehensive is up for renewal in a few month's time...

unlikely bud... CTP between the different insurers is pretty close. still worth while to shop around, but it's only a few dollars difference... and will probably make more of a difference based on who your comprehensive insurance is with (because they tend to offer a little bit of a discount if you already hold some sort of insurance with them).
