mines ok i guess, slight knock when go back to 1st, but quiet thru rest
Can't beat a 6 speed manual![]()
I like the A6...can be made much better with a tune too.
yea thats what i herd, my ve has a hsv id plate with ewb on it, any 1 no what it means
Mine was made worse with a tune... Went in smooth, came out changing too hard, holding gears too long intermittently, at least it doesn't flare at full throttle anymore though.
Yes, I'm taking to back to be tuned again. I hope it can be fixed.
Hate the ve auto, worse one i've driven and won't be getting another one.
I was and still am pleasantly surprised by my VE Auto. I've never liked autos and wasn't expecting to like this one, but i love it.
I hate my VE auto as well. Cant make up its mind when it wants to shift, hangs onto gears too long on normal driving,
and I wish could start off in 2nd. 1st is too low IMHO.
Dont need 6 gears with all the power. Used to get mobile with a powerglide, and less power years ago![]()
I have mine tuned to default to second rather than first when in manual mode.
do u guys use manual mode much. takes bit to get used of especaily driveing round town hear, seem to put my foot down more
Don't use manual mode much, just when i'm bored.
I rarely drive in anything else but manual mode.
Once you have driven a ford with the 6 speed ZF box all Holden slushboxes feel quite bad.
2.5" Single catback, LSD with 3.46 diff gears, Mace Manifold spacer, K&N panel filter ,VCM Dyno tune, RDA slotted and dimpled rotors.

Trick is never to drive one then you don't know what you are missing. Had a drive of a BMW 1 series 7spd last year and it was sensational and I didn't want to give it back.

Zf box is OK as long as you carry a spare input shaft. They break easy with a bit of a hammering.
for the price they work fine imo.
they are definitely an improvement to the old clunkers holden used to provide, but they arent as refined as other cars.
mind you, refined = $$$$ so I think i'll still with mine.
I'm the same.
I don't mind it, fairly smooth. Tends to want to kick back all too easily when in Sports mode, and Although the rev matching on downshifts is decent, it's not great when decelerating quickly, tends to over rev the engine then suddenly decelerate. I think I'd rather it without the rev matching feature
Current Ride: 2011 VE Sedan - In Voodoo of course.
Last Ride: 2004 Subaru Liberty GT, Twin scroll turbo, tuned, Bilsteins, sway bars, no rice, 420Nm
Also Own: 1964 EH Wagon, modified interior, minor modifications outside
Not a big fan of auto's, never have been but from what ones i have driven, the fg xr6 rental i had in queensland would be the pick.

Coming from my old vy calais I think this 6 speed box is a massive improvemet over the old 4 speed.
Mines always smooth and tends to change gears as appropiate, i couldnt be happier with it
Personally, I'm very happy with my 6 speed auto. Tows off the line like a train yet still economical on the highway and drives like a dream. Yeah, probably not quite as slick as the ZF, but pretty close.
For those that think BMW transmissions are better, well I hate to disappoint you but the BMW 1 and 3 series from 2007 onwards all run the GM6L45 trans (virtually the same as the 6L50 in the VE2, just slight variation in the case design. Same internals and gear ratios etc.)! The 6L45 in the BMW and 6L50 Commo transmissions are all made in exactly the same GM factory in Strasbourg, France.
