Default Installed OTR engine light has come on HELP!!

Installed orssom OTR cold air intake and a few days later the engine light has come on.. Can it be cleared or does it need to go to Holden? Should I remove the intake before I take it there? It's not tuned it's dead stock I've been trying different intake set ups lately dont know if that's caused it... Bloody new cars u just can't play with them in any way these days.. Not even a decent intake PLEASE HELP!!

Is the OTR the maf or mafless version? I only ask as you can't go mafless without a tune
Also to add to that, if the car is still under warranty, install the stock air box and take it back to Holden and have them clear the codes.

Take it in to a Holden service centre and get them to tune it , I don't know how you can reset the ECU on the VE , as that could be the problem .

No it's the maf version, the air flow meter is sitting in behind the intake.. I don't want to tune because it will void warranty on the running gear...

No it won't...........it will possibly void warranty on engine parts but even then probably not...It will void warranty on your engine if it detonates due to air/fuel mixture, but thats about it.

He said the light came on after a few days, if he had removed the Maf it wouldn't have started in the first place

Can Holden tune the car? I would get a mafless tune but it's not exactly cheap and I would need to travel.. Is there anyway to clear the light without going to Holden? Because I don't want to pull it off again.. I first ran a pod set up then removed it out the factory airbox back on with k&n filter then I bought the OTR.. Wouldn't think an intake would do this.. Can the intake void warranty?

See tuning is too much stuffing around there will always be a problem mates I have that modify tunes are forever having problems.. How do I know the tuner is any good.. with the car Holden won't want a bar of it and I need to travel to do it.. I was hoping to have the intake with stock tune as I said it made a difference and I was happy with it.. Anyway thanks for the input.

And that's the other thing, they say no cutting of wires or extending etc.. The air flow meter harness wouldn't reach I had to unclip a harness off engine block and move it slightly to make it reach.. Also the battery has been disconnected a few times lately in the installation process due to the terminal under the bonnet needing to be loosened.

iv'e had a maffless vcm tune just on 18mths (auto) not one single problem. as have several of my mates. because you live in a regional area you could give steve at oztrack a call. he does whats called a remote tune where you are sent some software etc.. plug it in to your car,he reads and modifies it why you drive from his laptop via the net. very popular way of doing it and he has a very good rep for getting things right. you dont have to go mafless, a maf tune yields pretty much the same power as the VE maf is not very restrictive compared to earlier LS1 variants. as for your paranoia about holden voiding you, thats incorrect. the std holden statement is "we refuse to honor any part of the wty if a failure occurs due to a modification causing that part to fail" thats in a nutshell mind you. in other words if you snap a valve stem or a lifter shits itself they have to prove that any mod done to the engine-a tune or a cam etc.. caused it which is extremely difficult to prove believe it or not. if you have not opened the engine for something like a cam then its even harder to prove.99% of all dealerships would have a high % of modified 6lt powered cars turn up at their workshops every week for work and they think nothing of it. i had my harmonic replaced under wty this week and they didnt even bat an eyelid.if you get a tune there is little point in hiding it is there? if your someone like me who has a full 3'' exhaust system, no point in saying "no i have'nt touched the engine" as you will be laughed out of the place. as i said most dealer mechs know all the mods we do and they can remove and refit them as required such as my harmonic requiring the radiator and my otr to be removed. if you get a tune then do it and enjoy it and dont panic about your wty as 99% of us that have modded our rides dont.
im out of my mind at the moment...please leave a message

Thanks so much for all of that information!!! I think your right so Your saying I don't nesicarily have to put the car on a dyno in Sydney for example? He can do it remotely so to speak? Wow I'll defiantly look into that! How much extra power could I expect? I have cat back exhaust and the OTR intake. Does this guy have a website or phone number?

check all the battery earthing point where the old air box was and take it to Holden WITH the CAI on and get them to clear the code's. This happen to Dad's SSV when the SS growler came off and KPM installed a VCM unit. He took it back and KPM cleared the code's and the car never had the issue again.

Found the website, I'm hoping I can keep the OTR on for time being and don't have to remove untill I tune it.. I'll take it to Holden tomorrow get them to reflash the ecu and clear the code and see what happens I guess

MACE Engineering also offer this service (Site Sponsor).

There is a thread about this service here
LSX LXX V8 Remote tuning service :)

The price is very good, (I dont know if he has the special still going).
I am definitely going to go down this road myself, as I said in your previous thread, yes I did install an ORSSM OTR on my V8, and I only had it on for 2 days, before I decided to remove it because of idle problems.
(I removed it before the check engine light came on, because I knew things were going to get worse before they got any better).

The check engine light should clear if you remove the intake, and clean the MAF. (A fresh OTR with a new K&N would have coated the MAF bits in a very thin layer of filter oil, making readings from the MAF even worse).
I suggest you get some MAF cleaner spray, and give it a good clean, regardless if you are going to tune or remove.

    Just my 2c

As for filter oil on the maf I had a k&n panel filter for months and months no problem at all. I have no idle problems it starts and idles fine. The intake has been on for 2 days before the light randomly came on last night. But I have disconnected the battery several times late and removed the terminal under the bennet to remove the airbox.

I would think due to the increased airflow of the otr it will be confusing the maf and /or map or in this case - Mitch...lol
