    Default SIDI E85 Tune

Received my MACE E85 tune today. Ran the car down to near empty, filled it with E85 (71ltrs @ $1.23/l) and then sat in the servo with the lappy on a shirt on the roof playing Solitaire until the flash finished....got some pretty odd looks. Started and idled no dramas but have only managed to put about 30ks on it so far. The car felt quite sharp! Will do some more driving tomorrow and will also collect some logs to send off. Will update on pants dyno and fuel consumption over the next week.

    Cheers

You're better off converting to liquid injected lpg. 110 Ron @ 55c a litre. My cammed auto ss is cheaper to run than a vw 1.4 tsi

im assuming that this is for an sv6, i thought you can only use e85 on my12 sv6 models as earlier models are not suitable.

Yeah that sounds good. Got any ideas where I can get that done on a LLT ie specific kits etc? Haven't looked at gas options as is probably a bit more expensive than a tune. Thought I'd give sugar cane a crack.

Yeah Vicarious I guess is a bit of a risk but is approved for E10 and I'm fairly confindent that it is essentially the same engine as the MY12. Warranty is long gone anyway

Icom JTG cost me $4750 - $1750 rebate so $3000. 30000km to break even. Mines using 15 litres per 100 in the city @ 55c a litre. Under 10 on the freeway. I can only imagine a sv6 would be better. From all accounts on a stock l98 without any other mods, the Icom JTG will give you a 10rwkw increase.

Quick drive today. WOW what a difference greatly improved response down low (like strong power from under 2k and pulls clean (no flat spots) through to at least 6k. Still need to do more k's to settle it in and collect some data but ####-me what a difference!! Even with new good tyres and the LSD it wants to spin in second when under the pump I'm impressed thus far...hopefully nothing will go bang

Here is some further reading on an E85 tune for the LLT http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread...71#post3344260

No E85 in Cairns either, That was one of the reasons I spent extra to get a MY12 SV6 (The "Perfect Blue" colour helped too).
Only E10 available in North Queensland.

Oil consumption seems like a bit of an issue with these engines...something we all have to watch. Car mods - ORSSOM OTR CAI, 3.9 diff, Pedders lowering coils, HSV steering wheel, Pacemaker extractors (+ minor exhaust changes) and now topped off with a MACE E85 tune.

how do you like the 3.9 diff? did it make a big difference? You gonna get your car dyno'ed?

Did some reading about E85 never looked at bio-fuel before now I know.
So after tune is right if you go somewhere and no E85 around what fuel do you put in?
Do you flash the standard tune back in or will the car run ok?

Diff is excellent particularly when stock was a single spinner so sort of killed two birds with one stone. Don't think I'll bother with a dyno but if I get a chance this year I'll do a 1/4.

VS_Pete_1 Yeah that is the problem with the E85 is getting it and also how much of it you have to use. Will be interesting to see how the economy goes but from a performance perspective it is sensational. If I do a trip will need to take my tablet p/c + OBDII connector and a copy of the normal fuel tune and flash it back in if necessary.

    Thanks for that.
How long does it take to flash the tune and it just overwrites the other?

There is a Caltex in Kambah, Jenke circuit and the other one is at Gold Creek Nicholls.
For me they are inconvenient to get to and if my memory is good I think you live near me too.

ive heard you will get a bit less mileage. i think cause ethanol burns quicker/faster. is E85 cheaper then regular gas there or more expensive? cause here its usually a little cheaper so that offsets the mileage a bit. either way im sure the power is worth the few more dollars in gas

I'll run a few tanks through it and get some more data but at this very early stage it looks like the cost to run will be similar to E10 or 92RON and perhaps even cheaper than 98ron. The inconvenience of having to fill more regularly and difficulty on longer trips might be annoying too but the pay off is how bloody good this tune is from a performance perspective and of course the feel good green value. For those that have a E85 capable setup, have easy access to the cane and have an after market intake and exhaust then I reckon if you are going to go a tune for your SIDI then go the MACE E85 as it completely changes the way the car feels even compared to an already tuned car.
