Default VE SS - Exhaust Flutter on Startup

    hi all,
just noticed yesterday and this morning my car has started to make a "flutter" noise when starting up.
i do not ever recall noticing this before now. could it be an exhaust leak?
sounds like its coming from underneath the drivers seat, listening from inside the cab.

    any ideas?

Could be the gasket between the Y pipe and the cats.

    What exhaust has it got?

Perry has been bought by HM but they were a big sports exhaust company in the 90's in their own right.

Get under it with a piece of hose used as a stethoscope and run it around the joins to see if any are leaking. You will hear it through the hose quite distinctly.

I had the same problem with my SS, when ever i started it, you could hear a flutter noise, while idleing, you could rev the car, and hold it at approx 2500 revs, and then the noise would be constant until you relese the revs. If i was driving slow, stopping, starting etc... you could also hear the noise when the car was changing back to first gear, it would flutter for a few seconds and then be fine. The noise started and after time gradually got louder. Anyways i took it to holden and my cat converter had shat itself. Replaced under warranty. That was my experience anyways. Hope this helps : )

Throw some talc powder on the joins will be obvious if its leaking.
