    Default VCM intake

    Hi new here.

I'm thinking of buying the VCM intake over radiator with the maf. I've heard that they had dust leaks early in there run I'm wondering have they fixed it yet? As I love the look of the VCM unit. Any help would be appreciated.

Mate i have one of the first batch that had leaks. VCM were very good and released a fix for them free of charge to all owners. and as far as i am aware they have sorted out all of the problems they had with the early versions. i am more than happy with the looks and performance of my VCM OTR retaining the MAF.

if you have any questions give them a call they seem very helpful every time i have emailed or spoke to them.

yes they have metal frame that holds/seals the filter in place now. mines 18mths old and that was the only major prob they had, some were cracking because of thin spots in the housing (bad moulds when new) but thats sorted now as well. i think they have also updated the housing a bit now too. they are an excellent OTR.
im out of my mind at the moment...please leave a message

Ok thanks very much I thought they might have sorted it out. I have a new SS commodore I want to get it tuned but I want to keep the maf my local dealer tells me if I keep the maf there shouldn't be a problem. But thanks for your reply the duspeed one is mafless so I'm not too interested in that one. Hope I can get a decent outcome from the over radiator with exhaust set up getting pacemakers fitted on Friday haven't fully decided on exhaust brand yet.

I have one too.. no issues really. Was simple to install myself and im not a mechanic by any means. You can fit it with the MAF but you will more than likely get a check engine light come up at one point, but nothing to worry about. its just the computer freaking out with the extra air thats coming through - mine does this every so often but has stopped recently (had it on for months and months now without a tune). Car will be more responsive etc with it without a tune but will run slightly rich.. However, with a tune it will be much better and will stop the check engine light.

Have you considered the VCM headers? they come with hi-flow cats and won't chuck any errors up...

Interesting, thanks for the feedback. I'm going to get a tune but keep the maf my dealer is cool with that. So shouldnt have any problems.

I'm getting pacemaker headers on Friday and the exhaust I'd say will be X Force.
