Default Question regarding OTR CAI and rubber seal

I have just had a KPM Stealth OTR CAI installed on my 2010 (AFM) SSV. I was having a look at an installation Video on youtube (Orssom OTRCAI) and they state to cut a piece of the seal under the bonnet to allow more air in.
    1. does anyone else have there seal cut to fit either side of CAI and does it improve air intake?
    2. would there be an issue in heavy rain with that part of the seal missing and the CAI filter sort of exposed?

    Any feedback appreciated!

Mine is cut... Felt really restricted without it cut when I first installed it, only got 200m up the road then realized lol.

Heavy rain is fine, but if ur behind cars when it's like almost flooding the road and there is heaps of mist/spray I fall back a bit just in case but it's always been dry when I check.

It will be fine.that's why the filter is oiled, to repel shit, crap and corruption. Unless you do something like sticking a high press hose in it when ur washing there's nothing to worry about. Don't remove the seal altogether as you will end up with an engine bay full of crap.
im out of my mind at the moment...please leave a message

I have an Orssom on a SSV, cut the rubber seal no drama at all. Have to clean the filter a lot though and the engine bay does get a bit dirty because of the gap.
