fake handbrake on centre console left side, replaceable with phone holder???

Opposite the handbrake on the left side of the console, where there is what appears to be a second handbrake, but it's just a fixed piece of plastic... (sorry, can't think of anyway to describe it)...

Is anyone aware of a replacement section for that that would be suitable as an iPhone mount in that area? It seems to be a wasted little space and the phone sits wonky in there. It appears as though that piece is removable, so I was wondering if anything exists that would replace that 'thing' with a more purposeful holder of some descript.

u can buy them from holden, my mate had one for his htc.
i think u can find them on ebay
the section clips out and a new bottom goes in, then u screw the cradel in and yeah

It's actually the handbrake for left hand drive vehicles.

Must have been cheaper to mass produce a bunch, and sort out drive orientations later...:thumbup:

Yeah it's for the lhd conversion Holden did when they were shipped to the states. If you look either side of your stereo to the door it's the same trim size. Pretty much a straight swap over for the dash

So far no good. I was just in at my local holden dealer, and they aren't aware of any holder that mounts in that area of the console. Jonnoo, if you can get a part number of your mate that would be good

I'm keen as for something like that the windscreen ones are tacky an the air vent ones are just stupid this sounds like the go.

Sweet, thanks for that. When I spoke to Holden last week they had no idea. I'll give them a ring tomorrow when they open and give them this and see how we go.

Here's a pic of my phone holder. Came as an optional extra when I bought the car. Fits perfectly into the console and works pretty well for the iPhone (it has to sit a little high in the holder of a charger is plugged in or to stop the side holder (???) from squeezing the volume down button)

Holden definately do a phone holder as Ive fitted them myself.

And they do fit into the little coin tray as above.

Only one screw and you can replace the small trim if you ever get rid of the phone holder.

No worries! They are worth what you pay imo. They leave no marks whatsoever. Yeah, you have to buy a holder too, but they have those for sale also... Specifically made for the model of phone you have and not the cheap arse crap squeeze together job Holden sell.

Ahh ok, that is a pretty crappy holder. But better than nothing I suppose.

But my Holden guy says that Holden don't do holders. He also says a lot of other things that are plain wrong, but I'll start a new thread about that another time.

i sad just buy ursellf a ipod/iphone usb cable or one of them cd player kits and buy some steel mesh and some bog or fiberglass and take a weekend and make yourself an iphone stat or what ever phone u watnt it to be used for :P
