Hi there.
I was wondering if you can buy an upgraded ECU to straight swap with the standard unit.
Also what is the best intake system you can buy?
Regards

What is your year model?
You can buy a PCM which you swap out and send your old one back to MACE Engineering, or do a remote flash tune
Check out this thread: Mace VE V6 Tune Review
MY06 - MY07 models: MACE recalibrated PCM to suit VZ-VE MY07 V6 Alloytecs - Mace Engineering Group This is the PCM tune where you get the PCM sent and u send urs back.
MY08 - MY09+ models: Holden VE V6 Remote FLASH Tuning - Mace Engineering Group This is where they send the tune to u and send the programmer back.
It's a my10. Is there a flash tune for this model?

Is there a mace engineering in Sydney?
Mace Engineering Group - Specialising in powering Australia's best Commodores | Automotive performance accessories
Go to that website and give them a call
They are in Victoria but their tunes are done remotely, and have a very quick turnaround so you will probs have the tune done quicker + less hassle than going o somewhere in Sydney, plus their prices are VERY good.
whats an ECU??...sorry..im not mechanically minded but im interested.....
It stands for electronic control unit. They're are many variations of functions and capabilities within them. The one specifically referred to in this thread is an e-ecu (engine electronic control unit). What this does is monitor what all the sensors on/in your engine are telling it and adjust air/fuel ratio to suit a varying range of conditions.
When you modify your exhaust, intake or bolt on a turbo/supercharger (pretty much any mod) this will put your ecu out of it's working range. It can adapt slightly but not enough. this is where tuning it to suit your modifications will allow for a much better power gain than just bolting stuff on.
Hope this helps.
Cheers Luke.
Your in Sydney, you should give Castle Hill Exhaust a call.
There doing dyno tunes for the v6's.
They do OTR CAI's and exhausts to go with the tune
Are you talking about autowerks automotive in Beverly hills?
No Castle Hill Exhaust. They can dyno tune alloytec from 08 to the current SIDI
I'm going to get my car done Sonny. Thanks
Front wheel drive cars are the work of the Devil.
Kuzman, no need to tell people where to go. No one has done a comparison mace v Che. so how can you say mace will do a better job? I have had my car tuned by mace and didnt notice much of a change after all the mods I had completed. This may be up to the shitty 5speed or could be the tune. To compare I'm actually going to head over to Che in the next 2-3 months and get a dyno done before and after a Che tune and see the difference. With the mace tune I just felt it was over rated as I have every bolt on there is available and haven't noticed much change at all.
No company is perfect. Everyone is entitled to a second opinion, as something may very well have been overlooked. I'm quite happy to help anyone out if they're not happy with our product or service in anyway shape or form. I'm easy
Going by the other thread DECIMATOR, glad to hear you're happy with your upgrade![]()

Lmao kuzman, how is the s/c going? I'm still leaning towards the turbo direction unless somebody can persuade me otherwise.
Will an aftermarket ecu make any further difference without going FI?
Yeah they will be, from my limited research at the moment I've seen turbo's in the alloytecs get mid 12s running standard compression not sure about reliability though. From what I have seen so far the best a s/c has done is a low to mid 13. Sure the instant torque would be great but dont think its necessary on my 100km daily journey to and from work where boost wont be necessary.
Fuel economy would better with a turbo, I'd prefer a turbo or a centrifugal supercharger but then again these superchargers don't really need an intercooler.
