Plug and play I doubt as its a completely different system so the other modules that normally communicate with the radio ( HVAC for instance) wont recognise the IQ system.

I have NFI about the Series II - E3 Holden IQ stuff...

But for Series I stuff, you need to set the VIN number for the radio module.....

The problem with the Series II stuff at the moment is
    1) There is noworkshop manual available to the "Public" (If you know what I mean)...
    2) The gear is prohibitively expensive to buy and attempt to hack...

So to try and answer your question,
Will it physically fit ??? Yes, it should.. I dont know if different trim peices need to be sourced ?
Will the wiring connectors be the same ??? - Could be, hard to know for sure unless someone takes some photos of different model wiring connectors.
Will it require programming ??? - Definitely !!!!! This is the only thing that I can be certain of at this point....

    I kinda hope this helps....
Let us know if you proceed down this path, as a couple of us are working on Series I Radio/HVAC programming via EEPROM hacking, and have a fair bit of it nutted out,
and we might be able to offer some assistance..

    Cheers
    Matti

Holden probably wont have the answer as its not something we would do to know if it works or not.

You can NOT install an "IQ" system in a series I VE. (FULL STOP)

You are better off getting the HVAC & double DIN mod listed elsewhere on the board. This will allow you to fit a decent system...

Because Holden in their infinite "wisdom" has designed the new system in such a way as it is not backward-compatible. If people could upgrade their series I instead of buying a new car, that would cost them, eh?...

    Hi Mint,

Obviously this is the case with Holden, as you said, there would be no reason to upgrade...

Just wondering if you know exactly why it cannot be changed over ????
Is it electrical plugs, programming, SW Can issues, physically wont fit ????
Have you tried, or know of someone that has tried this ????

I know of someone that has purchased one of these units, and will be looking at what is and isnt possible in regards to fitting to either Series II commodores, and possibly series I models.
It would help greatly if someone can give a definitive guide as to why it wont work, or what needs to be sorted out to get it to work.

I have seen a lot of posts on different forums saying certain things cant be done for the VE, and slowly slowly information is becoming public on how to overcome these limitations.
(Example fitting HSV clusters to Non HSV models, programming Odo readings, Changing startup screens on colour LCD HVAC/Radios, fitting Pontiac G8 electrical stuff to Holdens, and vice versa)....

    Cheers for any help...
