Pacemaker headers making a ticking noise?

Hey all just had some pacemaker headers fitted to my VE SS it's a series 2. Anyway when driving there is like a exhaust pulse "ticking" noise I think that's how you would describe it? Anyway the guy that fitted them said because extractors don't absorb sound like cast iron, exhaust "pulse"/tick is more audible is that cOrrect? Thanks in advance.

Yes. It's also because of the longer primaries, the sound travels along each tube further than it would in a cast manifold so the tick is more pronounced.

Thats correct extractors do amplify sound, but have also read somewhere that a leak in extractors could also cause a ticking sound...

Thanks guys! Doesn't appear to be leaks so must be normal sound, they have made a difference and I'm getting a VCM OTR and tune on Saturday should be good thanks again for the help.

Its also because the extractors are thinner wall steel instead of thick wall cast iron. The sound comes through the material.

Ceramic coating can have a small effect on noise cutting - if your willing to pay the extra

dw mate mine did the same thing, even better noise with the cam now lol

i have Hurricane extractors... they do the same thing. When they were fitted, they were checked thoroughly because they thought they were leaking.... the noise is from the collectors at the end of the primaries.
