Hi guys,
Driving on my way to work this morning, one of the roads i travel to work, was flooded, its was pretty deep, reckon it was higher then the tyres..
I went through it pretty slowly, i didn't really want too, as it was deep, it was the only way to work... The car went fine till i get too work,
As i left this afternoon, the check engine light is now coming on, I checked everything. Everything seems to be fine, im not sure if some water got on the engine causing the light to say on, im not sure, any advice would be good.
Hope I didn't do any major damage to it :/, I'll know to not go through it next time
Cheers.
You most probably havent done any internal damage to the engine, if any "liquid" enters the engine it will cause whats caused hydraulic lock and serverely damage the engine as liquid cant compress so if the piston compressed with water inside you would have more than an engine light to deal with. you have most likely upset a sensor of some discription. Try not to drive it too much get it to Holden or someone with a scan tool so you can find out what codes the computer is throwing. Thats the first step, also open your airbox check the filter to see if its wet or if there is any water in there the pickup for a a stock intake is near the fog light you have have upset the air flow meter or you may have upset a sensor completely unrelated to engine function. that would be my guess and getting the codes read is the first step.

mates wife done the same in his vz calais alloytec but unlucikly go the bow wave of an oncoming vehicle that covered the bonnet. engine and transmission lights came on and it stalled. got towed and to end a long story was a written-off by nrma. fingers crossed you get e better outcome.
on a side note I am amazed how quickly people forget the power of flood waters especially in queensland. it was only 12 months ago we saw the worst floods in history with peole killed in cars from doing this. on the new tonight there were more people in brisbane shown sitting on roofs of cars in the middle of flooded roads after amking poor choices.
luck its only your car................
Thanks for replying guys,
I'll book it in and take it to holden tomorrow morning, hopefully its okay, only have had it for 3 months..
You should be right dude.. Well nothing major even an intake will upset the computer on these new cars. As I said your engine should have popped by now if it took in water and even then it would need to suck up the collector through the filter through the maf into the manifold. So I'm tipping a sensor.
