Pop it out, remove whatever that is. Wrap it in Di-noc Vinyl. Pattern up to you.

i just brought myself that very same part from holden spares $42. i'd give you the part no-92235389- but mines for an ss which has a different profile fit to the calais. just make sure that they get the right piece if you buy one as the schematic on their computer makes it look like part of the shifter assembly which you dont need.
im out of my mind at the moment...please leave a message

Yeah, my 06 Calais-V is doing it too.

HoZy do you know of an easy source of the 3M vinyl? I looked into it a while ago but remember it being a hassle to source unless you wanted carbon fibre.

Theres a couple good re-sellers of the 3M Di-Noc range, Carbon, Matte, Brushed alloy & a couple of other patterns on eBay.
Just makesure to look for genuine 3M, It's not the cheapest stuff, But it'll last, feels great an it looks great.
The fake stuff has barely any texture, it's soft & leaves residude

    Cheers

its odd that all you guys are having probs with it bubbling. the calais has a chrome surround does it? perhaps thats why? stick on chrome. i scratched the shit out of mine (in a my10 ss) with the vac hose thats why i replaced it and its coloured plastic -frosted silver-. i have noticed that everyone seems to own early ve's, maybe they have changed to coloured plastic for the calais by now at least with the later ve ser 1's anyway. its not hard to replace, just pull up from the cup holders and work you way forward, unclip all the switches and its off.
