yooooooo
So you know the VE stock handbreak. it looks....weird and is uncomfortable to start learning how to use a new system easily.
So is there any companies that make replacement VE handbreaks that look normal and function like the normal ones?
Thanks
Firstly, I wouldn't be worried about the handbrake. I would be more worried about your poor English and badly written sentence.
Go Back to School.
WTF.
How is it not normal?
So the buttons on the top instead of the front.. What's the issue with that?
I know what you mean, but new cars these days are making the handbrake lever fit into the contour and design of the console. I have not heard of anyone wanting or needing to change the lever
Not just the button, it looks out of place.. the shape of it and i find it easier to pull the button from the front.
No point debating on which is best cause you obviously are comfortable with the current set up, and im not. so do you know of a solution like the one i asked?
Shm1ck, Yea thats why i asked if there was any companies that make them that look and function normally. And now you have heard of one. Cant believe im the only one to diss the VE Handbreaks?
Seeing that the button is pushed down as it sits on top of the lever, to change the position of the button to the, let's say tip of the lever, would mean a whole new set up as you are talking about changing something that would move in a completely different direction.
I'd say get used to it or prepare to spend a few bucks to change, plus the look of the centre console
ohk dw, maybe i can recraft the whole design myself and build a custom one. The handbreak action is the same, locking mechanism is same. i just have to change the position of the button, and craft a handle.
Good luck with that, if you do, post some pics. I'm sure some peeps would like to know what you can do
Oh yea for sure. ill have to look into the type of plastic moulds used, but ill figure it out. maybe make a how to for those interested.
Thanks bro
Lmfao at this thread is it me or are the threads in the ve sections going down hill.
Sorry man but it's a just hand brake
The other thing is the are a few different types of handbrakes around so I wouldn't call one type normal.
There is nothing wrong with the ve handbrake you will get used to it all you have to do is pull it up when u want to park
Look, when Holden committed 1Billion $$$ to the VE they completely forgot about the handbrake design.
You guys dont understand?
If someone wants to modify something on their car.. and come to a commodore forum to discuss it, and the other members have the same attitued as this. then where do people who have these problems to discuss go?
basically.. it looks gay... i think so and i want to change it. weather you agree or not, please dont negotiate it with me. I know that before going and re designing something its worth actually reviewing what your doing. and i have done this. I dont like it and i would like to change it. Help me of #### off really.
Why do you guys care so much about the handbrake? You dont realy see it when its not in use, it matches the rest of the cab. If your having trouble with the handbrake, I dont think you should be driving a car at all.
at least its not a camry or aurion with a footbrake!
Get over the friggin handbrake, you only use it when your not in the car!!! how the hell does it matter what it looks like when your not in the bloody thing!
it would only be something in need of improvement if you were going to Drift (LOL) or do motorkhana events in (DOUBLE LOL)
agreed, the VE threads are plummiting
All I can say is LOL!
I'm just trying to picture how a handbreak can possibly look "gay"...
I looked over here, but no luck Toolshed Sydney| The Ultimate Adult Shop | Operating for over 30 years
BTW, the red, squiggly lines under things like "handbreak" are subtle reminders that you might think about using another word..
HIDs.....LEDs..... DRLs..... CHEV Badges..... ->
it just seems like all the time and effort in fabricating a new brake lever could be better spent elsewhere or not at all... unless you plan on keeping the car for the rest of your life it will most likely be replaced in 3-5 years and soon in the future i am sure will just a button on the dashboard!!!
Ken Block's billet "block" jobbie looks gay. This looks awkward. I agree it's ugly when up. I honestly can't see a more traditional one looking 'better' in the cabin of a VE though - and would have thought it would get in the way a bit, thanks to it's location. Have to say, it is easier to use than an Aston hand brake - that sits down between the driver's seat and the door (right hand operated) and even when it's activated, it's down, though mainly so you don't fall over it as you try and get out of the car - I must admit though, I'd put up with it...
Had a 3 seater vs ute with the hand break between the driver seat and door, was a bit of a pain to use but i preferred it over the tiny one on the sedans and normal utes. One thing i hated about the "normal" handbrakes was when people thought it'd be funny to pull it all the way up as hard as they can so you'd have to use 2 hands to put it back down.
How about a nice fly off "hand break", LOL, like an MGTC? Now that would be worth having. But who here even has the slightest idea of what a fly off handbrake is? And have you ever had the pleasure to use one?
^^^ No ratchet - the only handbrake mod worth doing (+ hydraulic) - probably not in a VE though![]()

Hmmm i always thought they had a ratchet just sort of worked backwards as you needed to push the button in to apply, But didnt need to too release or you could just pull up and and release with out locking if you didnt press the button
(IF you know what i mean).
