    Default Water in cab.

Guys, it's a 2010 SS ute and we have had a large amount of rain of late where i come from.

Have not driven the car for three days and i get in today to go for a run and there is a pool of water on the right hand side of the go pedal, slightly back towards the drivers seat.

Has anyone had this with there ute.

    Cheers.

I'm in Brisbane and have had a bit of rain but no water inside. Are there any water marks anywhere else inside? Is the floor wet in surrounding area or has it just pooled in that one spot?
Some people lie so much they begin to believe there own bullshit.

There was a thread or two about this a while back - from memory, one place water was getting in was a faulty seal around the rear of the cab - and one was with water getting in behind the fire wall from under the windscreen. I'll see if I can dig the threads up. Definitely warranty.

edit.. could also be clogged drain outlets in the door channels.

Try this mate. Ute - Water behind passanger seat

Sorry to hear about the leak.

Edit. sounds more like the leak through the plenum chamber and behind the fire wall though. I can't find the thread for it - but it's pretty common - to the point of there being a techline out for it I think. Ricey may know more about it.

If you can get your hands on a complete series 2 version, it will fix the problem. It mounts differently and sits flat - warranty won't cover that part though - which is retarded.

Can you isolate where it's coming from?

    Pinched from carsales...

    CHECK POINTS
    >> 2006-07 VEs were recalled to fix faults including two separate problems with under-bonnet fuel hoses and a rear seat-belt. Check service books or with Holden to ensure the rectifications have been completed.

    >> VE front suspension clunks and rattles are common but not especially costly to rectify. Worn sway-bar bushes and suspension strut mounting plates are common noise sources but suspension specialists offer a range of upgraded components.

    >> Six-speed manual gearboxes are noisy but generally reliable. Make sure that the car doesn’t jump out of gear under hard acceleration.

    >> Look for damp or mouldy carpets due to water leaking through the firewall and a join in the plenum chamber behind the engine. If there is any sign of water inside the car make sure that electric seats, windows and other components haven’t been affected.

    >> Rear suspension problems include sagging springs and worn differential cradle bushes. Edge-worn tyres indicate that alignment of all wheels is overdue.

Good luck finding a ser2 plenum. Hexem (Phil) and I have been waiting/looking for months trying to get one. the passenger side is in plentiful supply, it's the drivers side which is the problem side that's seemingly impossible to get for some unknown reason. but yes it is the fix us ser1 guys need as it has a male/ female "V" join that runs along the bottom of the screen under the plenum itself and seals it. shits me to tears too seeing the bodgy ser1 plenum letting water run down everywhere over the back of the engine etc.. If anyone has success finding said ser2 plenum PLEASE let the rest of us know
im out of my mind at the moment...please leave a message

Very hard to see where it's coming from mate, that rubber car matt you see in the pic is saving my arse right now .

No water is getting through to any carpet in the car at the moment.

Checked all over the rest of interior , and that's the only spot that is effected. Only ever appears after rain, not when driving.

Cheers and thanks for the info mate.

Get an A4 piece of paper, and tear it into strips long ways. On each strip, get a waterbased texta and draw a straight line all the way along in the middle.
Put these strips in strategic areas around the cabin (stick them in place if you have to so they dont move when you shut door).
When any water hits one of the strips, you'll see because the paper will absorb the water and the texta line will distort. Using no texta sometimes wont work because the paper will dry out before you see it.... so make sure you use it.
Put them everywhere. If water near the pedals, try sticking some higher up behind and under the dash. If water is first coming in from up high and then pooling, you'll know.

It's a weird issue , because i can hit the car with a large amount of water when washing and it never shows during that

I know how difficult it is - it's ridiculous - I have been trying to get a hold of one for a long time now. Non-existent!

Best method is remove the drivers seat (D/C the battery so it doesnt throw a code when you D/C the airbag connector.) get a torch and get someone to put the hose on the car and you should see where the water is running in. May need to peel carpet back a bit at the front to gain better access.
