Default Accessory power and a bit more?

    Hey Lads,

I need to find a 12v accessory wire in my Omega that will stay on (even when the car has been turned off) until I open my door like how the stereo works. Does anyone know where such a wire can be found?

    Cheers

What you powering up? Depending on how many amps it pulls you could splice into the factory 12v port.

Thanks RiCeY, I plan to use it to power my LCD HVAC controller so bugger all amps. What is this 12v port you speak of?

It should stay powered up till you open the door along with the stereo etc? Plug something into it and test my theory I could be wrong haha

Ok just tested it, the sig lighters die as soon as the key is removed, unlike the stereo which will stay active until the door is opened.

I have also probed the 12v wires going to the stock HU and all three that i could find are always on. So I'm assuming the stereo is getting its on off commands from some GM LAN magic.

    Should be same...

Youre right theres 3 wires with constant battery voltage all orange with a dark blue trace.

The on/off command must come via the CANBUS.

    Ill keep thinking.......

    Cheers Timmo,
Hey U Mirin to get it to work properly i have ordered a solid state timed relay that should do the job. Currently it works but every time i restart the controls default back to some useless setting so i need to mash a couple of buttons to make it work properly. the LCD can be wired up to the GM LAN wire located at the head unit plug or behind the glove box.
If you done want a relay solution you could hook it up to the power windows relay witch should also work assuming they run at 12v.

or you could get from holden an emergency vehicle wiring harness which is indepenent of the the main harness and any accesseries you add will not mess with computers or settings, may be able to find one at wreckers.
what we have here,is a failure too communicate!!
